AzB main page

So you’re saying basically it’s just like the mainstream media around here, you have to submit (pay) your story to get a write up?

I can see if it’s an announcement about a regional tournament or something obscure, but dang- this is kind of a big deal and I would think the owner of AzB would want that on his front page. But I guess you gotta write that check first.
This is a joke, right? This is the page with the last stories we posted on the site... https://www.azbilliards.com/news/ Explain to me which of those stories were paid for in any way. I am one person. I would be happy to show you the notes that cover my screen on Jayson's run, the Dennis Orcollo situation, Derby, and an interview with a Polish star. Not to mention getting stories that were submitted to us sent off to Skip to rewrite them.

Am I a little touchy about this. You damned right, I am!!

"Hey, why isn't this on the front page?" is one thing. "But I guess you gotta write that check first." is a little much.

I just noticed there isn't an article on the front page of AzB touting Jason's 714 run. Am I just missing it, and if not why wouldn't this be a front page story?
Don't you be bitching at us, m*********er! You write the goddamn article and PM it to mike!

He'll handle the pictur to make it complete.

Nicely stated. I think it can be tough for us website clickers to realize that sometimes one Mike is wearing a lot hats.

C'mon, Z-Nole, please tell us you were hacked.

Complaining about AZB is like complaining, after someone just gave you the best home-grilled cheeseburger you ever ate, that the bun could have been toasted a little more. I mean . . . please.

That is not how it works.

Mike interviewed Bobby and is doing the tough job of turning Bobby-lingo into a really nice story.

Whatever it will end up saying, you can bet if it gets picked up by the traditional media outlets, they will go by whatever information is fed to them. There won’t be any independent research by them.

That is not how it works.

And, the big outlets have people on staff called “fact checkers.”

WTF are you talking about? Someone has to give Mike the story to post. Do you think he has all the details? Is he expected to do research and hold interviews and make his own write-up? No one has to pay anything, just send in the info.

sigh, once again, not how it works.

Thanks for what I'm sure will be a very nice write up, Mike.

Here is a really nice write up by David Thomson about the DCC, that includes some information of the run by Jayson. (Focus is on DCC, not the run).

Edit: The author of the article is David Thomson.

Yes. A joke.

This thread turned into more of a distraction than a discussion.
I think it should get removed and start all over. Let me ask this.
How much coverage did Jason’s feat get elsewhere, anywhere,
local news or national media., not just YouTube or Facebook?

Maybe the question is connected to the abysmal state of affairs
of pool in the USA. Pool halls have been steadily decreasing in
number. Minimal television coverage of pool tournaments or just
the general game itself. The Moscini Cup does not generate a lot
of interest, plus we perform horribly as well. Jason’s score of 714?

I betcha you ask the man on the street, he’d more likely say too bad
he only tied Babe Ruth’s record instead of he destroyed Mosconi’s.
Don’t lay lack of coverage on this website. The cartoon character,
Pogo, summed it up best….”We Have Met The Enemy and He Is Us.”

Too early to ask all that -- we'd like to get certification first.
