AZBilliards Restates Position on Press Releases

Press Releases are designed to be announcements based on information that is considered true and factual. It is a communication tool to the general population that is a particular target audience, such as sports or specifially in our case, the pool community and industry.

There are standards in PR writing. I've personally been responsible for writing all releases for CSI, the BCAPL and USAPL national offices with approximately 30-50 annually going on 5 years now.

There are standards and best practices in the world of PR writing such as always having a concise and short release which includes the media contact name, phone and email address.

It is the responsibility of all PR professionals or those who represent themselves as such to ensure the information they are distributing is accurate, professionally written and always includes the information of who originated the release.

When a PR is submitted that is inaccurate or missleading, it perpetuates false information. There are enough challenges in the pool world why someone or an organization chooses to misslead players and the community is beyond me personally.

I applaud Jerry and Mike. AZBilliards was being ethical and responsible to post what they did and requiring all press releases sent to them to be signed and professional in it's content and distribution.

Looks like Charlie has decided to have an ABP tour by using all the existing events in a points system without approval of all those promoters hes using as ranking events and magically calling it an ABP ranking system. Next move is to get the real points system from the BCA and use his ABP points instead. If this happens (and it won't) the ABP would actually have a little leverage. If you understand what WPA/BCA points events really mean you see what I mean.

The thing that doesnt make any sense to me is that if Bonus Ball comes through all the players are going to be tied up for six months out of the year in Vegas. At first I thought the resurgent ABP might of been resurrected to try and be some half ass bargaining unit for Bonus Ball but I can't see that being the case with Archer being the point man on Bonus Ball. I know he knows that any of the past tricks some players have tried will kill the whole deal. Its a weird time in USA pro pool right now. I expect it will get weirder.

Personally I am hoping Bonus Ball gets off the ground. I much prefer something of that nature than the bad old days of the UPA/Charlie thrashing around stirring shit for no reason. I would bet that the chances of anyone flying an ABP flag having less events to play in and not more is the end state if things continue as they have.

Sometimes it is best to just keep your mouth shut, rather than to open it and remove all doubt, your an idiot. Have a great day!!!

May I paraphrase?

"It is better to have people think you're an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt!"

Sorry to have asked my (our) original question. I am not wise enough to have understood Mr Forsyth's comment. Thanks for the post itsfroze. The thought police are on active duty.

Thanks, I was a little off on the saying, but I think he got the idea.

Nope, still think your in no position to ask for clarification. How many sign/unsigned press releases do either of you submit on a yearly basis? And why do you think are ENTITLED to an explanation?

and it would appear my sig line applies to both of you.

Was brought up in an environment where asking questions was a positive thing. Primarily how I was educated. Rarely take anything at face value. Whether I write dozens of press releases or none, the statement from Mr Forsyth is open to discussion. You choose your path to enlightenment, I'll choose mine. See how easy that was!

I'll be in Vegas in January. Can't speak for itsfroze. However, as I'm just a ball banger, perhaps you might want to drive over and give up The Nuts. Spend most of my free time at the LV Cue Club. Best is ten minutes from my home. Pool Sharks only fifteen. Have a nice day.

The last time I checked, a forum is open to ask questions, so long as it is done in a reasonable and respectful manner. I do not think for one moment that the folks at AZB will have a problem with how these questions were asked.

At no point did I take from Lyns inquiries that he felt "entitled" to an answer.

However, I think that most if us are entitled to a forum that is free from people who feel the need to stir up crap and try to antagonize others. Sorry I dont have a sig line quote for that.
