I haven't read through this thread yet but I'd like to propose that we add Craig Riley aka The One.

Also, shouldn't this thread by a sticky? Or do we have to have the nominees listed as a poll first?

Thanks luv, btw loved that old video.

I would be happy to play in a qualifier if I go, but I might go to Manila instead not sure yet. It would be nice to make up for the problems I had last year though.

Now this is getting interesting, and it has given me a great idea. Seeing how we have many that would like to go, and the "voting" would seem as if it were a popularity contest, perhaps we should make this a competition so that the "player" earns his spot and the honor of representing Azbilliards.

We can go on and on about which player should be chosen, OR we can find the best player.

So here is what I propose...

Hold a 5 man ring game - each player needs to post up $300 - or forum members can sponsor a player of their choice - whatever. That's $1500 that would pay for the entrance fee and expenses. If you want the $1500 (which includes entry into the US Open) - earn it! All that needs to be done is to pick a time and a location. If you want the spot, collect the $300 and toss your name in the hat and show up and play. Its that simple. The winner goes to Chesapeake. We can keep this system and use it every year. This way we have the money raised - the player that wins EARNS his spot - and it makes it interesting. Josh, you still in? Unknownpro? Corey? Anyone willing to back their player?

I am happy to play anybody at any time, however this makes no sense to me.

Me? heh.

Come on guys, Pick a young gun like me one time to go to the open. Oh, Mr. touring pro player that will play anyone at any time, Are you feeling good enough to give up a lil weight my friend? Have to ask for it since your so confident.

Thanks,
J. Hillard

I have to say that I lost interest completely in this when I saw it evolving into a "which pro should AZB sponsor?" initiative. Should this initiative revert to "which amateur player that is a regular poster on AZB should we sponsor?" I will, once again, take an interest in it and support it financially, as I have in the past.

maybe you dont need a ring game... or the players to even leave their home room....

maybe each player should play the ghost!... surely we can find a few people everybody finds as hoenst witnesses to watch the pre-setup matches... have them play an ahead set with the ghost and whoever beats it in the the least racks played wins.

fairest idea i've heard so far.... maybe thats because i thought of it! :)

Having thought about it SJM I think I agree with much of what you've said, of course the problem with pool is that the lines between pro and shortstop, I mean amatuer are extreemly blurred.

SOmebody like Tanner would prob gain most from the experience. Pick a young player, pref one that dreams to be a pro and has a decent chance of making it.

I think someone like juniorchamp_ktm or onemoreyouth would be a good choice. We really need someone to take charge and collect the money to get this thing rolling. Us Open is fast approaching.

I would love to go, i was going to enter a qualifier to try to get into it but i dont have alot of money right now. My buddys the behnkes are going, it would be a treat to see the greatest players in the world and play with them.
