There have been umteen threads about what pro breaks the hardest, and it inevitably spirals into "the hard break is dated and impractical"... I KNOW THIS

Just for funsies... anyone who has the breakspeed app... what is your best break. With complete disregard to the results, or where the cueball ends up... let's break some lights, and send whitey into orbit.

whatcha got boys?

mine was 31.4mph (prior to back injury)... now is about 29.8

some integrity please
not doubting your ability to hit them hard, but there is no control at 35... even if Thor himself decided to take up pool

I was just having some fun like you said...LOL. It's a more realistic 18 MPH. I'll download the app and find out tonight for sure.

I'm probably around 18-20 tops...being a midget doesn't help my cause in this category :sorry:

CO Nineballer breaks real hard / fast
I don't remember the numbers, but he has won some fast break competitions

How much is it the breaker vs break cue? I only ask because I never had a top break cue. A buddy traded me a Jacoby breaker and there is a huge difference in my break. Can't even break like I use to. I have to lay off or the cue goes flying.

They used to have a break speed contest every year at Super Billiards Expo and there was both a pro division and an amateur division.

In the amateur division, the same guy would win nearly every year and his name is Ken Kerner of upstate New York. I think he was typically around 31 or 32 mph.

I was clocked at 32 mph.................there is definitely variability in different types of measuring guns. They had a contest at local billiard supply store and I was measured with a hand held basebal gun.

A touch over 31mph breaking off the rail was my best. My best breaking with a closed bridge was a lot slower at 25.80mph. Still can't get the hang of breaking with a closed bridge :(

Haven't tried off the rail...when I go for a hard break with my normal mechanics I'm around 25. I've watched a 35mph break at the speed break competition at the last APA national event, and it's just useless at that speed. The guy had to bring the back of the cue all the way up by his head! Pretty impressive, though.
