No, this Shane McGill was from Gastonia, NC area. He often played in Viking stops as Mike McGill. Great guy, wonderful player...barbox champion.

That is good to hear...If you see him playing you can count on a true match. No funny stuff. BJ is a true gambler with heart.:)

True.

Tell him we already knew he had heart, didn't have to prove it to us!

Huckster,

Sugar Shane from the Pa area is Shane Henning.

Also to B.J....Get well soon!

I heard BJ was playing last weekend at Babineau's in Raleigh. That was good news to hear. BJ played on the old Fury tour when I was the TD. He would often come over and sit and chat with me and my wife between matches. He is a super nice guy, and has a great game.

BJ was here

Yeah BJ was at Babineaus this weekend. Had a bye in the first round then played Mike Davis. Played a weak safe hill hill and lost. This was his first tournament since the heart attack and he broke and run the first two racks. He looks real healthy (always has) and said the docs couldn't find anything wrong.Thats good news. I advised him to not take the game so seriously, therby reducing stress which may have been his problem in the first place.
BJ has a ton a game and a ton of energy to go with it. His stamina has never been at question. Remember he won I think it was twelve matches in a row last year to take a Florida tour event last year coming out of the losers bracket. Thats pretty strong. By the way BJ was the only guy to get more than 4 on Mike Davis who dominated the event. Great guy and a real credit to the pool game.

Congrats to Peaches Fuller who took second place. Still playing strong and another great guy. I would suspect the report on the Jacoby event will be posted later this week.

Yeah...he was there this weekend..and i sat and watched the match..damn he played well..that two pack he hit mike with was really really good...he came over and i spoke with him for a while..he said he hadnt picked up a stick in three months till that match. Pretty damn good...I think the Champion guy got 4 games with mike. and Peaches has a new fan from Va. He played jam up...he knocked my coach out for 4th place (Bernie Kirby) Bernie had open heart surgery not long ago and was inthe hospital for 2 or three months he has come back almost 100 percent but i am sure he just got tired. Not taking anything away from Peaches he his a great player.. I was the big black guy with the huge nine ball on the back of his shirt. I will be in Rocky Mount in 4 weeks..i can let you Carolina Boys kick my ass that easy..and by the way the burgers in that place are the best damn burger i have ever had...bar none...and my family owns a resturant..dear god they are good. I asked the owner what was in them..he said "Im pretty sure that there is some percentage of meat in them." and he winked and laughed..great guy.

i saw bj at bg's yesterday and yes he had a heart attack and it was stress induced. he looked good and seemed to be doing fine. i asked if he needed to be on a particular diet or exercise program and he said the doctors said stricktly stress related.

I know he was under alot of stress. When you play on your own money it makes the game a little more stressful.
Speaking of stress related problems. Does anyone know if stress was the cause of Mike Coltrains nerve disorder?

Good to hear that BJ is doing ok... I used to see him at tournaments and had dinner with him and some friends once, very nice guy. Tell him to find another doctor. Simple vitamin and mineral deficiencies cause much stress and many heart attacks. And exercise and weightlifting are the best stress relievers known, aren't they?

A simple lack of magnesium can and will cause severe anxiety and depression (very stressful) and make your heart race out of control. Calcium and magnesium must be balanced to maintain correct heart rythm. Other minerals, like selenium are vital.

Pressure on nerves due to incorrect alignment of the spine (very likely in pool players) and shoulders and collarbone can also affect your heart.

I have thrown matches intentionally because my heart was skipping around. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me on the stress test but I almost fell off the treadmill when the damed thing was finally over. I couln't run more than about 9 feet then, but now I can run for hours and my heart never skips anymore. This is another reminder to me to take my vitamins, since I have slacked off for a while. Good luck BJ.
