Well, after a summer off and wondering if I will teach this year or not, I have accepted a job teaching social studies in Louisville. I knew it would not last very long! I got a little down this summer when I decided to accept a new, non teaching position...well I quit that because my heart wasnt in it.

Here is the question.....How does your profession affect your pool game?

With teaching it is kinda hard to play as much as I would like between coaching, teachers meetings, grading papers, parent conferences, etc... But I really really play well during the summer months!

It's going to be hard man, but should be worth it. Set your priorities and kick some @ss!

The only way my profession (if you want to call it that LOL) affects my pool game is that I am not able to play in tourneys during the week as often because I have to get up pretty early. Other than that - it is pretty much the same. I have a table at home so that helps.
Teaching is a tough job. One of the most important and underpaying jobs in America.

My job doesnt let me play much but I travel all over the country and have had the pleasure of seeing and playing in some of the best rooms in the country. Hell I even went to the US Open for free and will get to go again this year. My boss even paid for my VIP seats.

Being married with kids and a full time job it is hard to find time to go hit balls but like everything else, I have to make time.

lol...actually...we were the bombers at my last school...hence bomber....i was the head baseball coach and assitant football coach. i am a viking now...i wish i could change my screen name.

You're on the right track, but if you want to be a great pool player, you must teach in New Jersey.

Being a seventh grade English teacher in Edison, NJ, didn't stop Steve Mizerak from winning four straight US Open 14.1 titles from 1970-73.

Being a professor of Mathematics at Middlesex Community College in Middlesex, NJ, didn't stop Tom Jennihngs from winning consecutive US Open 14.1 titles from 1976-77.

Oh, those NJ teachers are so tough over the glorious green felt!

As for me, most of my career has been in private banking, and there was always enough time to be a serious amateur pool player. Come to think of it, as I have a beard, maybe I should write a book about my career called "Banking with the Beard." Good idea, right?
