Bad experience last night

I was at the bar last night and was playing on a bar box just for table rights. Well, a nice guy ends up trying to beat me for 3 hours. At first I thought he may have been trying to hustle but that later became evidently not so. He was having some problems with his girlfriend of 3 years, etc. Well, at the end of the night some other guy comes up and steals the cigarette out of this nice guy's hand and starts puffing on it right in his face. I was maybe two feet away as I knew the guy that stole the cigarette and he's a huge trouble maker. I wanted to at least try to stop the brawl that I was sure was going to happen. They exchanged a few words but before anything could happen between the two of them, a guy standing off to the side smashes his glass into the guy's face that I had been playing all night. Blood just started pouring down the poor guy's face. He didn't do anything but stand there. The guy who did it ended up getting arrested and at least one of his friends as they were all lying for him and acting like complete asses. I think they were all on something or just incredibly horrible drunks. I gave the police my first hand account of the story because I wanted to see that bastard to go jail. Not sure if I'll have to go to court or anything. Now I just have to worry about him or one of his friends smashing a glass into my face because I've seen the kid out many times that did it. Oh well..at least I'll have a clue to duck. That really ruined a good night though...some people are disgusting human beings. The thing that cracked me up was that the guy still had a sense of humor after all that. As he was about to be taken away he looked at me and said "I'm still gonna kick your ass". He had been trying all night and kept saying he'd eventually kick my ass.

Well, that sound like the kind of character of a person you would like to have as a friend. I'm talkin about the guy down on his luck. You should befriend the guy and take his mind of his ex by helping get better at pool. He now has the time to focus on pool now that the "hassle" is out of his life. Seriously if you see this guy again, exchange numbers.

I would in a heartbeat. I'm not sure he'll come down again after that. He said that he was from council grove which is pretty close to here. Actually, the girlfriend that he was having problems with ended up coming down and they were kind of having words and stuff while we were shooting. She ended up helping him with the pads that he had on his head and changing them out and stuff. That boy lost a ton of blood. I also forgot to mention that I saw a speck of blood on my arm when I got home. I figured it was his so I took a piece of toilet paper and scraped it off. Turns out a piece of glass had hit my arm I guess and made a small cut.

If I'm playin' in a bar, something has to be at stake. I don't believe in exposing myself to a bunch of drunken yahoos just for the hell of it. Nor, do I get my kicks beating guys who can't play. :)

Ahhh the bar scene...do I miss those bar room brawls. Before the cops showed up I do believe someone should have taken the cutter outside and do a little cutting on him, then push a pack of lit cigarettes down his throat one at a time. Johnnyt

Yeah fatboy I hear you. I do still go to bars every now and then, but only the classy ones. Yeah there is still a few nits in there but all in all its a fun experience. I play pool until the drinks take hold and then move on to darts. Somehow it works for me. Can't play pool drunk, but can hit those bulls in one round shitfaced. Eh, maybe I should start playing in a league? Eh wait, I remember some bar pool leagues and the reasons I quit.

This is actually a fairly high class bar that this happened in and it's half pool hall/half bar. Just because it's a high class bar doesn't mean there aren't low class people though.

bout a year ago i went into a bar part of a resteraunt, its a huge place infact i went there for a year and didnt even know there was a table I knew the security guard and he was banging the balls with some guy, the place was empty and i was just walking around checking the place out-I awalys stayed in the front part of the place. i asked if i could play the next game, they said sure, i winked at the guard-he never seen me play. I tossed a c-note on the table as joke when I racked the balls, the guy i was paying put one down. Ok, were in action. I ask the guard to hold the stake, the guy i'm playing cant play too good, so i push balls around and let him get out in front playing 8 ball(just a couple balls we only played one game), when the time comes i come with a shot and run out and missed the 8 ball it wasnt a hard shot i just missed it-didnt dog it, just missed, the guy has 2 ballls left, makes them makes the 8 but it was a dead scratch-he could only play safe and he didnt know that. So he scratched, i win. I didnt say a word, the guy looked at me hard-he wanted to punch me- I had zero chance if a fight with him, I dont fight anyways. I then after ten long seconds offered him his $$ back because I didnt win right, he walked away, the guard paid me, had the guard not been there i would have been hurt.

That was the first time in years I had been in a bar with a pool table, its in the back of the resteraunt, I came with one shot that tipped him off and that was enough. I ran around to the bars with Rudedog years ago in Vegas playing tournments and that was cool because most of the people were players. But I have awalys avoided bars and the one time I didnt in the story above it was a close call for $100. Bad action.

I'm not sure where this came from so I'll reply with this: do you want a cookie or a cornbread muffin or something?

Wednesday night my wife's team was playing BCA league, there are 2 tables and there were 4 teams playing so both tables were being used..Half the teams that night consisted of females..It is a fairly respected bar....
3 guys came in and you could tell they were looking for trouble...About 15 minutes later one guy breaks his glass over another guy's head and cuts him pretty bad. Another grabs a house cue and smashs a guy with it. A piece of glass fly's and cuts a female on my wife's team across the forehead and she is bleeding. One guy grabs a females custom cue and her teammate bravely snatches it out of his hands. Blood had to be cleaned off it before it could be used. Another guy grabs 2 custom players cues and my wife quickly grabs those back out of his hands...
Of course the 3 guys left before the cops came and the cops did nothing...
I came in about 1 hour after it happened to see my wife and there was still broken glass all over the place. Beer spilled on pool cloth and beer in serval peoples hair...
In the 9 years I have been playing league this is the first fight that has happened during league night..Some of the bars we play at are not in good areas and never has there been a fight. This bar is in a good area and well respected. So there you go.
What are you going to do ??? Can't stop playing or break up the league..It's just a weird situation ...
My wife or her team aren't even thinking about quiting or not playing in bars anymore. They figure it's just a rare incident....
As long as guns and knives don't come out I'm alright with it. Once a gun ever come's out at a bar then I will stop going to that bar...
I think a fight has more of a chance to start if 2 guys are gamling or playing alone. I mean with 4 teams playing with 20 league players there on the tables there is less of a chance.....
Anyone else ever have a fight start on league night ????

Our local pool hall has had two guys tackle each other, once... they got maybe 5 seconds of halfhearted swinging in before bystanders pulled them apart. This was the first incident in 12 years that I know of. For all I know that was their first incident in 20.

It all comes down to the owner and how much time and effort he puts into keeping it clean. Ours keeps all drunks out and keeps even slightly mouthy sober people in check. It's a wonderful place to shoot. I think you should invite the nice guy to such a place, it sounds like he's into pool or at least very competitive and he might find he has a taste for good equipment and a sane environment.
