Balabushka in COM?

What kind of cue was it that Newman gave Vince in that movie? I know it wasn't a Balabushka....was it a SW and about how much was it worth at this time?? Thanks. Johnnyt

The N7 was the model number. I have a 60" copy of that exact cue. The 20th anniversary COM cue is different. It has the notched mother of Pearl diamond in the points and a black and white speck Irish lenin wrap.

There were three, IIRC, and they were all sold for charity. I worked with a guy who swore up and down that the cue was an original 'Bushka.
Johnny, I've seen a lot of Southwests but never with a steel joint.

This is a quote (from another thread) who gives more precision about the COM cue :

Dan Janes made three copies of the cue that was designed as the "Balabushka" used in COM. Scorcese wanted to make sure that if something happened to one of them, they would have ready replacements. Only one was used in the movie, and both Paul Newman and Tom Cruise autographed it, when it was sold at a charity auction. I don't know what happened to the other two cues. Joss later brought out a production cue that was similar, but not exactly like the COM cues.

The original production model number was J-18. If you look closely at the cue in the movie and any examples of the original J-18, one major difference is that the COM cue has no inlays in the points like all J-18's and N-07's I have seen.

Too bad the price on that Cue is thru the roof..........well $500 for me is thru the roof

Altho I am not a real fan of production cues......... that is one Joss I wouldnt mind owning

What does this mean?? If you're referring to the cues in The Hustler, Mosconi said either in "Willie's Game" or in a two issue article/interview in Billiards Digest, that the cues Newman and Gleason used were his personal cues and that they were Rambows.

This was a misinterpretation ... Sure they were Rambows, from what I know.
