Mottey - 18.5" from butt
White - 1.5" above wrap
Searing - custom

My personal preferences for the balance point based on a 58" cue is between 18-3/4 to 19" from the bottom of the butt cap. The heavier the cue the more forward I want it, and lighter further back. I like a slightly forward balanced cue. I want to make, and play with a cue that just lays in your hands without any notice of a rear or forward balance while playing.
People are different sizes, and shapes, so if they have their own preference, I'll make how they like.

Thanks Dennis. And it's for these reasons why I want one of your cues.

Hope all is well,

This answer should be framed. I also like a cue that feels neutral in my hands. This response explains how he can achieve that regardless of weight. A well balanced cue feels lighter and more responsive to me.

Damn, my ancestors have been fostering our a**hole image since 1620. And you start to wipe it out with one post. You immigrants!

While I do have quite a bit of southern Italy and Scotland in me, there is some Mayflower, Yankee as well.

Koop - blames the Italian on the soft side :D

I also get best results with the forward balance. I have been shooting with a Blugrass which is 19.5 from butt, and I just acquired a John Davis conversion that is 20.2. I am 5'8" and this allows me to hold the cue only a few inches from the balance point to allow a very level cueing.

Actually, that cue is all purpleheart. The Bluegrass is ebony nose, uncored.
