I think Joe needs to drop off a can of drano because the balls hang up almost every time they go down the pipe. These really caught my eye the first time I saw them. Something new and different is always nice to see.

From a functional perspective, I would say they likely out-perform the ball returns on a gold Crown III.

Given the cost of a set of ball returns this is a good idea. The skirt could be longer to hide the returns. Alternatively, the returns could be shorter. If the balls were hanging a wider opening could be used.

I helped move an 8 footer that used half pipes for ball returns and while it had a cheap wooden bed the returns were quite useful and out of sight. Not sure anymore but I think the fella used split four inch split pvc pipe and the run (drop angle) was not as drastic.

So this fellow's idea is a good first effort that only needs more thought.

BTW my Brunswick GC III returns when properly installed are flawless. It does take a little effort to get them right.
