Hello, everyone.

I'll be taking a trip down to Baltimore, MD fairly soon. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to shoot in and around the downtown area? Thanks in advance.

Was that on like a second level? Restaurant and tables? If memory serves, the name had something to do with E. A. Poe, or there was a Raven on the sign or something. Getting old is hell.

He may want to e-mail Dan Janes or Tim Scruggs, they could probably steer him right.

Adios,

Hey all,

The name of the place is Edgar's. It's upscale, so be prepared to bring money to play by the hour! I think it's about $8-9/hour, if I remember correctly. It's very nice though. It's on Light Street, I think. If you are looking for something more inexpensive or more 'social', try the Towson/Parkville area. There are 2 pool halls across the street from each other....Champions Parkville and Top Hat. Champions is for good food and socializing, with 9' Brunswicks downstairs, and 7' tables upstairs. Top Hat is more for action...not much on the food there. Both are cheaper that Edgar's. Kelly's Cue Club is also nice, it's in the Parkton area I believe. Enjoy!

LOL, I was gonna say Sports 2000, but I always get there via the beltway, I forgot it's proximity to town. But it should be noted this place has only 1 9'er. It is HUGE with ton of bar boxes though.

There is another place I remember with a great local player, "Cigar Tom". It's on the southside, can't remember the name right now. All GC's as I recall, Scott

Running Out Billiards could be the one you are thinking of.

Thank you very much, everyone.
I'll be staying in the downtown area, but will have access to wheels so I'll check out places in the surrounding area as well.
Appreciate the input.

Depending on what days of the week you will be in Baltimore, I could provide a few local $20-to-$25 entry-fee tournaments, usually beginning at 8:00 p.m.

MONDAY: Bill and Billie's, Arnold, MD

TUESDAY: Champion Billiards Cafe, Laurel, MD

WEDNESDAY: Orange Ball, Rockville, MD

THURSDAY: First Break, Sterling, VA

SUNDAY: Top Hat, Baltimore, MD [begins at 1:00 p.m.]

Thanks for the info, JAM.
I'll be there for a weekend with some family. Probably won't hit any tournaments. Just wanted a nice place I could shoot at in case they decide to do something particularly boring.

Sdtonyc, I'd ditch the pool, then, and enjoy a weekend in Baltimore. The Downtown Harbor is the place to be. Aside from the multitude of great eateries, there are a few interesting places. BTW, Camden Yards is the nuts and is only a several-block walk if you all can get tickets.

The water taxi at the Harbor is really cool, and for a few bucks, you can hop a ride on over to Fells Point. While the rest of the gang goes shopping at the gift shops and tourist spots, there are a few watering holes with bar tables if you feel the old pool urge.

ESPN Zone, where they film some of the 7-ball and trick shot challenge matches, is at the Harbor, and I personally like the National Aquarium, a Harbor favorite, but buy your tickets ahead of time to avoid standing in lines: http://www.southbaltimore.com/InnerHarbor/Aquarium/

Hot Shots is on Route 40, Pulaski Highway, about 2 miles or so off of I-95, but it is not in downtown Baltimore.

The owner of Hot Shots also owns the Rosedale Inn which is located right in the same shopping center as Hot Shots. The Rosedale Inn has GREAT homestyle cooking AND 8 bar tables.

The Hot Shots pool room is definitely a fun spot and has GCs, a couple of Valley bar tables, and a few others. There's a nice group of regular patrons who frequent the pool room, and whether you are looking to get in action, play for time, or just practice, there's a little something for everyone at Hot Shots. I like the place! :)
