Baltimore Bullet ;Have you seen it ???

I saw it several times. It was a funny movie with some interesting scenes. Thing is that it was a real movie with actual stars. Unfortunately the script wasn't on par with the Hustler.

It's my favorite "just for fun" pool movie.

Great photo, thanks! I found this film on an old VHS and brought it over to Irving Crane and his wife Althea after Irving mentioned it. We watched it at their house together and he talked about his memories. What an unforgettable evening....

Ask Jimmy Reid

Ask Jimmy Reid about this I think it was about him.

Does anybody know the real Baltimore Bullet? I think richiebalto might. Andam played a gentleman they used to call Baltimore Bullet in Falls Church, VA years ago at a pool hall called Sharks.

I cannot recall the exact bet, let's just say it was substantial. They played in one of those tight Diamond tables with Andam giving Baltimore Bullet the seven, razce to 10, I think.

Andam dominated the match and won the race easily.

Richiebalto might be able to recall the name of this older gentleman who was really well know and feared in Baltimore years ago.

It was 'The Shark Club' and those tables were brutal.

I remember seeing this movie when it came out at the theater with my older brother Mike!! Afterwards he took me over to a local pool hall to hit 'em around some. Fun times:)

In a few shots during the scene when "The Deacon" (Omar Sharif) is at home practicing, You get a pretty good look at his ivory handled Gina cue. this shot shows a fair look at the forearm.

I disagree with that comparison. COM was too fantasy-like, re Vincent being unknown and still so good. How'd he get so good?

I think Bullet was one of the most accurate depictions of the gambler's mindset ever in a movie.

Sure, it was done in a silly manner, with the stupid fights and all, but think about it...Think about those you know for real who live by that "next big score" paradigm and chase it around the country. Especially now with the poker craze and all.

I laugh everytime I watch it. We got a foot of snow last night...might be time for a rerun!

Is that Wayne Norcross, middle of the back row?

He told me he did the bank-jump shot for the opening.

I grew up watching this movie on VHS. Any movie that had James Coburn, the dude who played "JAWS" in the bond movies, and Omar Shariff was not "low-budget". It did have an annoying lady who sang a country song in the middle of it? (Random)

I liked the way James Coburn said the word "cash"......which he said quite a bit.

There was a weird scene involving a poker game and a kung fu fighting transvestite (seriously). It was realistically showing the good pool player who was always losing his money in poker games. He thought he could beat these games as good as play pool.

In the big tournament you have Willie Mosconi commentating the action, which was very cool.

The idea of meeting up and busting the big player was kind of cool. The idea that this dude had all of these fish dieing to donate to him was kind of unrealistic. What I did like was the ending. <spoiler alert> Shariff's character lost his 100K (maybe 200K) and his Rolls Royce....and he just calls up a cab and is somewhat jovial about it all, ready to go make another score.

It's not THE HUSTLER or THE COLOR OF MONEY but it is a fun movie....and way better than Pool Hall Junkies.

WHat is Andam doing these days anyway?

The last time Andam was here was about three or so years ago He stayed with me for the duration of his visit. He got some local action against Brian Deska at Fast Eddie's with Brian getting the seven. Brian hung there and played real good. But Andam still has a bunch of tricks in his arsenal and prevailed in the end.

We went on the road to the Carolinas hitting some regional tours and some money match.

He's staying in the Philippines right now. Last I heard he was teaching some new up and coming young players and keeping a step ahead of his several romantic dalliances.

Merry Christmas, Walt!!
