He's a good player but not on the level of most of the names mentioned so far. I know a few guys in Okla. that would walk thru broken glass to gamble with him.Dustin Gunia also from Omaha.

Larry Nevel?I can’t think of the name of the guy who came through town in the late 80’s that just crushed it on little tables. He has had all kind of health issues including a recent heart attack so quite a few people were surprised to see him at the derby a couple of years ago. I want to say that maybe he lost part of a foot or leg?? I saw him run multiple 6 packs on the bar box and at least one ten pack. His break was so strong anyone could run out if he broke. But for the life of me I can’t think of his name. I was sure someone would’ve mentioned him by now. Anyone have any idea who I’m talking about?
Yes sir! Damn he could break.Larry Nevel?
Larry is around 46-47 now.Yes sir! Damn he could break.
I think Sparky owns a barber-shop now. Don't know what Bowman's up to. Haven't heard anything about him in a while.I like threads like this, because it reminds me of a time about 7-10yrs ago that I followed some okay players on the BB.
The Music City open comes to mind - Out there at J.O.B. in Nashville, Barbox was big back then.
Jesse Bowman and Sparky Ferrell have an okay match linked above.
Also would like to include, Joey Gray, Chip Compton, Shane for sure, and Sky
He has to be older than that. I’m thinking at least ten years. Was I remembering right about losing a leg or something?Larry is around 46-47 now.
He lost a leg. Born in '74 according to this: https://www.beloitdailynews.com/unc...cle_0ce9d766-0388-58e0-aecc-89af71435d7f.htmlHe has to be older than that. I’m thinking at least ten years. Was I remembering right about losing a leg or something?

Johnny I wonder if we crossed paths. I was in Denver off and on from 1990-2004 solidly from 1999-2004 until I moved to Ca.I'm 66 and from B'ham, been around pool for 50 years. I've seen lots of gamblers here but
I've never seen any of 'em run more than 2 racks. They may have but I didn't see it.
Hell, I've broke and ran 1 rack and almost ran out on the second but didn't, even though
I have high run of 26 in straight pool, I'm talking about 8 or 9 ball.
Now, in 1999 I moved to Denver and stayed there till '06. I saw several folks running
2 & 3 racks regularly, and then, then I got to watch Danny Medina. Nuff said?
Any monster on a 9 foot or 10 foot table is likely to be the same on a 7 footer, even if they don’t play on it that much. They simply don’t need to because everything is easier on the smaller table and their cue ball control is so fine tuned.Who were some of the Incredibly strong bar box players over the years? The area where I live pretty much is exclusively bar box tournaments(tournaments on 9 ft tables have almost totally disappeared) so I was thinking about checking out videos for players the good folks here think of as primarily bar box specialists. Many Thanks,Mike S.
