Barry or Gus?

these are top line "fancy" G.S.'s albeit of the "uber" variety. they don't have to be quite this fancy for me to put them in the fancy category though.

Tim, I see you've been hiding a stash.....

Those are pics of some great stuff. I especially like the 8-pointer with chain links & S rings.....and of course the super, duper rare 8-pointer with full veneers !!

After my post I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of my entire Szamboti collection.

Without stating the obvious about how nice it is to see all these Gus's with work in them together, those are some really rare plain examples....esp. the 4th and 5th from the left. John, it's nice to see some of your collection. Maybe someday I'll find myself near MI. :)

Here is an overview of my cues, the two Barry's are at the bottom.

The cue I was refering to is the third one from the left, I am not the greatest photographer though.

BTW in my opinion the tone of your post is very poor, I think a much better way to ask would of been:

Can you please post pictures of the Gus cue you were referring to that you bought for under 10K?

Thanks!

STOP SHOWING OFF JOHN......J/K, AWESOME CUES. IF YOU EVER WANT TO PART WITH THE PROPELLOR CUE, KEEP ME IN MIND. IF I HAD ORDERED A CUE FROM GUS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THAT EXACT DESIGN.

when I was playing the best pool if my life 92-94 I played with both barry and Gus cues at the same place , there were several of each and the Gus cues played better. I awalys say it but its old wood thats the reason. it has to be hell they are using the same equipment etc. For me a Gus is the best hitting cue period, I have played with 1 or 2 that didnt play as good as some do like any brand of cue there are the occasional ones that just dont feel good. But overall Gus cues are the best hitting cues period, I like Tads designs and they are second, Barry is 3rd for me. But like anything its just an opinion, not a fact.

i have no idea(never hit a bal with one), i would like to know, i'd be objective and i might hate it because of alot of reasons, but if it had the same dimensions as a szam I like i'd probably like it, old wood hits better all things being equal, i play with a Gsazm and a new richard black(recently)-the richard black is a great cue but just dosnt give the feed-back my Tad or any of my Gszams do. i like to feel a cue afterthe shot-I played last night with the Black and it felt just ok.

the relationship between the butt taper and shaft taper play a big part in how a cue hits. some of George B's cues had his classic "tree trunk" sleeve coupled with a smaller than usual joint making the butt more conical. along with his usual construction methods and paired with his normal tapered shafts, these could be the best hitting cues i've ever hit with, true hit "gems". i've only seen two of them, heard he made a bunch of them, but they both had a feel like no other cue.
