Bartrum vs. D' Alfonso - Round Two!

OPPS!!! Tommy misses the nine in the side, but leaves Chris with a long, very tough shot. Chris misses and leaves a bank for Tommy. Tommy misses, but leaves Chris tough. Chris kicks the nine and leaves it at the other end of the table. Tommy banks the nine and it looks like it is going but hangs in the corner pocket. Chris by five.
 
Chnris makes the five ball on the break. Has a tough shot on the one ball. He misses barely and leaves Tommy a fairly easy shot on the one ball. Tommy studies the shot to find a good way to get on the two. Slow rolls the two in and is straight in on the three. Makes it. Four is close to the side pocket, almost straight in. Draws back after making the four and lies good for the six. Shoots in the six and draws back into the seven. Leaves a very thin cut into the side on the seven. The cue ball goes four rails and gets very tough on the 8. Tommy banks the eight into the corner pocket and is now tough on the nine. He has really made this run out way tougher than it seemed to need to be. Tommy tries to drill the nine into a corner pocket and it jaws out, but leaves Chris with no shot. Chris shoot a tough safety by thinning the nine and leaving it on one end rail ab out 10 inches out from the rail. The cue ball is up by the spot. A REAL tough cut to make the nine. Tommy strokes it right in the pocket and the cue ball almost scratches in the side, but bounces off the point. Chris is up by four games.
 
This is great, I don't want to leave, how are you guy reporting this, do they have wireless there or are you on a blackberry, whatever, thanks a lot, this is just unbelievable, I feel like I am at the rail sweating the match.
 
Tommy breaks, makes nothing, and almost scratches in the lower right corner pocket. Leave Chris with nothing. Not even an easy way to hit the one. He pushes (by rolling into the nine and then off to the side rail). Tommy plays a safety. (Here's some advice -never try to do a shot-by-shot for a 10 ahead match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Chris hits the one and leaves Tommy where he can see it, but has no easy shot. Maybe a corner pocket bank. He plays a safety. Chris plays an excellent safety, but Tommy can see the edge of the ball. I don't know what he tried to do, but he shot hard and ended up getting a safety by accident as the six rolled between the cue ball and the one. Chris kicks the one and leaves Tommy a shot. He makes the one, billiards a ball off the two, makes the two and gets a little tough on the three. Slow rolls the three beautifully and gets perfect on the fout. Then shoots the four into the nine which was hanging in front of the side pocket. Chris by three games.
 
A ball goes on the break, but there is no shot on the one. Hey, the one ball goes after all, since Tommy just shot it in. Has a long shot on the two. Tries a safety, but leave Chris a look at the two. A long shot. He studies it a while. He makes it and comes all the way back, up table, to get near the four. A long shot into the far corner pocket. He makes it and has a road map for the run from here. WOW!!!!! He misses the five almost straight in the corner. Tommy makes the five and six and gets good on the seven. Makes the seven and has the eight in the corner, but the nine is at the other end of the table. He makes the eight, draws back, but not as far as he wanted, leaving a fairly tough cut on the nine. Makes it. Chris by two.
 
Tommy breaks and makes a ball. Is right on the one. Makes the one and two and gets a little tough on the three, but makes it and get good on the four. Dare I say "road map" again? We have a wireless connection here at Kickshot to answer someone's question. Makes the six, but the cue ball is on the rail for the eight ball shot. No road map after all. This is a tester. Tommy stays down on the shot and smoothly strokes it in. Leaves a long shot on the nine into the corner. Smack!!! Back of pocket sound here. Chris is ONE game up.
 
Tommy comes up dry on the break but plays a very strong safety and gets ball-in-hand. He runs to the seven and is straight in. A long shot. Tommy fires it in and stops, leaving a moderately difficult cut on the eight into the corner pocket. He makes it but rolls past position on the nine. Maybe a side pocket bank? Or super thin cut into the corner? The answer is.....

Bank shot splits the side pocket. EVEN!

Nothing on the break. A couple of safeties. Chris kicks at the one and hits the one, but scratches in the corner pocket. All nine balls on the table, but Tommy has ball-in-hand. The four was tied up, so Tommy tried a one-nine combination. He misses, but the nine looks like it is going two rails into the corner! But the two ball kisses it out. Chris is hooked. Jumps, hits the one, but leaves Tommy a carom on the nine. The nine heads for the corner, but hangs up. Chris now has a long, long shot on the one. He plays a two-way shot - safety and tries to make the nine, which is hanging with the cue ball. The cue ball gets close to the nine, but the nine stays up. Tommy makes the nine and Chris has ball in hand. Chris is going to play for three fouls. He freezes the cue ball behind the seven and leaves the one in the middle of the table. Tommy hits the one. Chris has a shot on the one in the side. Makes it. Makes the two but it looks like he is hooked on the three. He kicks the three and gets safe behind the eight. Tommy kicks the three and leaves it almost straight in for Chris. Chris runs to the six and has to really slow roll it to stay on the seven. He is perfect on the seven. And has a nice angle to make the eight and get on the nine. Chris on ONE GAME UP.
 
I have set an 11:00 PM deadline for myself and I am afraid the match will be far from over by then. Unless someone strings 6 or 7 racks.

Chris breaks and makes two balls. Has a fairly easy shot on the one ball. Nothing looks too tough. He makes the one and plays very nice position on the two ball. Makes it and is fine on the three but has to do something to get on the six. He follows up the rail and makes the six easily. Seven and eight are both by corner pockets. Gets good poistion on the nine, but not perfect. Makes it in the corner to go up by TWO.
 
Fantastic job, Bill. although I must admit at this point I am dreading the
11pm curfew.LOL That is another reason I didn't come tonight I have things today as well toworrow. rep to you.

Chris makes a ball on the break but has no shot on the one. He makes an OUTSTANDING two-rail kick that moves the one ball down table and sticks the cue ball behind a cluster of four balls. Tommy kicks three rails and misses the one by less than an inch. Chris makes the two and three and plays a safety on the four than leaves Tommy about how he was on the one. This time he makes the three rail kick and leaves Chris safe. Chris plays a nice safety leaving Tommy no look at the four. Tommy kicks one rail and hits the ball but leaves Chris an easy shot on the four which he makes. Chris shots the five in the side and bumps the seven toward the corner pocket. It's a fairly tough shot and Chris undercuts it. Leaves the seven in the jaws. The eight and nine are close to one another near the middle of the table. Tommy makes the seven and is looking at about the same shot he missed hours ago on the eight when he could have gone five game up. He shoots the eight into the corner and the cue ball caroms the nine into the side pocket. Chris by ONE.
 
Tommy hits a BIG break, making three balls and spreading the rest out, the one ball is hanging in a corner pocket. But he is HOOKED. Tries to play rail first, but misses the one ball entirely. Chris has ball in hand and makes the one and the three and gets good on the four. Three balls left on the table. Hits the center of the pocket with the four and is good on the five. No problem. Gets on the nine. Chris is up by TWO games.
 
Nothing on the break. Balls are lying rough. Tommy makes the one and gets good on the two. Shoots the three down the long rail into the corner. The five and eight are tied up it looks like. Tommy cuts the four into the corner and rolls up toward the five. Didn't try to break them out. Tries a safety by shooting into the five and trying to stop the cue ball behind the eight. But the five rolls a bit too far and Chris can see it. No he can't see it. Gets the jump cue out. Makes a great jump shot to make the five and stay down there for the six. Six in the corner, seven in the side pocket and good on the eight. Shoots the eight into the corner pocket and gets great on the nine. Up by three games.

Which he makes on a nice shot. Plays a safety on the two where Tommy cannot see the ball. Tommy kicks, hits the ball, and it goes in. Leaves himself a tricky little combo (3-5). He hangs the five in the corner pocket. Chris completes the combo on the five and leaves the three hanging in the corner pocket. But the cue ball hits the eight and he is almost hooked by the six. But not quite. He makes the three and four and is straight in on the six. Makes the six and stops for a shot on the seven in the side pocket. Makes the seven and goes rails for perfect position on the eight in the side. The nine is a hanger. Chris up by FOUR.
 
I'm going home pretty soon. I hope someone will report on who wins this match. Please!

One rail shape to get straight in on the five. The six is about a foot in front of the corner pocket but the nine blocks the seven from the other corner pocket. Chris makes a nice shot on the six to get position on the seven in the same pocket. But the cue ball is on the rail and the shot is almost straight in. How to get on the eight? He jacks up a little, then stands up and looks at the shot again. back and forth up and down. He fires in the seven and now has a long, almost straight shot on the eight down in a corner pocket. He makes it. The nine is a hanger. Chris is up by FIVE.
 
Hey, this is a great way to pump up your rep points! Chris breaks and nothing falls. Tommy tries a shot and misses leaving Chris a shot on the one ball. He makes it and goes three rails for shape on the two. Suffice it to say that Chris some very nice shots and looked to be on the five in the corner. But was he hooked by the nine? Nope, he shoots the five and six and the seven is near the side pocket. He is taking his time and studying position on the 8. Gets good on the eight. Makes the eight and has a routine shot on the nine. Chris is up by SIX games.

Next game will be my last one. Sorry folks, I really am, but my 65 year old body is telling me to hang it up. Hope someone reports on the winner of the match!
