Bartrum vs. D' Alfonso - Round Two!

Wish i lived closer so i could watch it live. You are doing a great job with the updates. Thanks again

Nothing on the break. The cue and the one are almost touching. Chris plays a safety leaving the cue on the opposite end of the table, but Tommy can see the one. He double-kisses the one, leaving it on the same end rail where it was. Chris plays a really nice safety leaving nothing but a kick shot for Tommy. Tommy kicks the one and leaves what may be a shot for Chris, but the 7 may be blocking the pocket. Chris tries the combination, misses, and leaves Tommy a shot on the one which is near a corner pocket with the three hanging. Tommy combos the three and leaves the one in the jaws. He makes the one and spins three rails to get on the two. Two into the corner and now a somewhat tough shot on the four down the rail into the same corner. Tough on the five! Almost hooked behind the nine, but can see the edge of the ball. Hits it perfectly to go two rails for nice position on the 6. The 7 is in a bad position with the eight just about where you would want the cue ball to be for the 7 ball shot. Makes the six and goes off the eight to leave a long, down the rail shot on the 7. He makes the 7 leaving the 8 and 9 on the table. Cuts the 8 into the corner and hangs it! But Chris is hooked behind the nine ball. Chris gets his jump cue, but decides to kick one rail. He makes the eight is pretty good on the nine. Tommy is up three.

Excuse the double post. S#@t happens.:D

Chris breaks and makes two balls. Easy shot on the one. Makes the two and plays a nice shot on the three to get on the four. Leaves a thin cut on the 7 into the side pocket. Makes a terrific shot to get on the 8 and the nine is routine. Tommy is up by 2 games.

I very much appreciate your posting updates on this matchup, but you must be typing non-stop. The play-by-play you typed on this game alone would take me longer to type than it would for Tommy/Chris to play the game itself!

Chris breaks and makes two balls. He cuts the one into the side on a very nice shot to get around to the two. Two into the side and now a long shot on the three into the corner. It goes, though it bobbled, and now he shoots the five into the opposite corner. The seven, eight and nine present no unusual problems. Tommy is up one game.

Chris makes the five in the side on the break and has a good shot on the one. Chris runs to a shot on the six in the side pocket. The nine is partially blocking the seven from going into the corner pocket, so Chris shots the six and draws back to shoot the seven in the opposite side pocket. Gets perfect on the eight and the nine is a hanger. The match is even.

Nothing goes on the break and Tommy fails badly trying to play a safety on the one ball leaving an easy shot straight into the corner and the two is now a almost straight in shot into the side. Chris studies the 3 ball shot for a long time as position on the four is not obvious. He gets on the four pretty well for a side pocket shot, but getting on the five will be tough. He shoots the four and follows down toward the five, but the cue ball goes into the corner pocket. With ball-in-hand, Tommy makes the five and runs the remaining balls to go three up.

Bill, what time zone are you in? Better yet, when did the match start? It was 2:30 PST.

The one goes in the side and Chris has a moderately tough shot on the two after the break. The two goes and the three looks pretty easy, but getting on the four will be challenging as the 8 blocks the ball somewhat. Chris leaves himself a tough cut on the four. Or a bank, of course. Chris opts for the thin cut and overcuts the shot. Ain't we all done that! Bathroom break.

So, you've been going for an hour and half now.

I'm predicting a long day for you. I hope you're getting paid for overtime. :)
We're gonna owe you big time for this one.

Tommy makes the four and five, but gets partially hooked by the eight. What to do here? I would panic, but Tommy tries cutting the six thinly into a corner by hitting the edge he can see. Misses the shot. Leaves a long shot for Chris who makes it nicely and falls into good shape for the seven. Pretty routine from here and Chris goes up one game.

Looks like Chris weathered the early storm from Tommy, could go quick from here if it like last night, thanks again for the excellent updated, positive rep for you my friend.:) :)

Gut feeling.... Chris will win. Tommy has a bad feeling way back in his head after last nights fiasco and doesn't believe he can do this. A crack in his armor if you will. A seed of doubt that has germinated and is beginning to cause a hesitation in his stroke. I can see it in my 3rd eye.

Jay, my shift ends at 11:00 PM!

The eight goes on the break. The one barely goes on a good hit from where I sit. Chris makes a nice shot on the one and has the two in the side. Then he slow rolls the three into the corner leaving himself a cut on the four into the side. Rolls into the five leaving himself almost straight end on the five (both cue and 5 on the end rail). Draws to the side rail and back out for the six. Uses the bridge to make the six in the same corner as the five. Draws back to leave an angle on the 7 in the side. Gets perfect on the nine to go up 2 games.

That's five games in a row for Chris. UH OH is all I have to say.

The five ball goes on the break. No shot on the one. Pushes out. Tommy plays a nice safety. But Chris can see the one and plays a safety in return. Tommy will have to kick to hit the one. He almost kicks it in, but leaves it hanging. Chris makes the one and gets pretty good on the two for a shot into the side pocket. Makes the two, but the cue ball goes into the 8 and stays near a corner pocket. There is a shot on the three into the side which he makes. Has a long, tough shot on the four down into the corner pocket, but undercuts it. Leaves Tommy a long shot on the four which he executes very well to get on the six. Six into the corner, seven into the side, eight into the corner and perfect on the nine. Chris is one game up.
