Battling the ghost - maybe a better method

Good drill.....I do something similar to warm up, something like a ladder drill......I also always rack all 9, I need the break practice...

Full 9 rack, break, removed all but the last 3....as soon as I run out, break full rack and remove all but last 4.....and then all but last 5.....and so on.....I always try to leave the highest balls on the table and run out sinking the 9.....repeat until the full rack is run.....

Unfortunately, at 3 ahead, I'd probably just spend all day at the 5, so I just move forward after I run one rack.....it serves as a great warm-up to hit a few different shots and get in stroke....then work on whatever practice shots I want to concentrate on.....then mix in that 8-ball drill that was posted the other day, and then some 14.1......

so any guess what the speed is?

Hey, I always have to keep score...

Anyway, doing the modified ghost ball drill. I like it. Like someone said earlier, play the full rack ghost, he kicks the snot out of me and then I lose focus.

I got to the 8 before I had to quit. We went back and forth on the 8. I think that was my top though.

So what level do you think you are if you beat the 5- then the 6- then the 7 etc? I'm actually trying to get you to say, Bob, your no longer the crappy c player you have been for the last 6 months...get to the 8 and you are a high C low B? (where I have been for many years....)

I like the variation on the drill, the 3-ahead part, and working your way up in a progressive manner. I will definitely incorporate this into my practice instead of just playing the 9 ball ghost separately, good practice to have to bear down and get out with less balls on the table as well.

I hope you are not comparing the rest of us to Efren!;)

Hmmm, from now on when someone asks my speed I'm just going to say "Well, my game has been compared to Efren's." :grin-square:

JohnnyT, great suggestion about racking all nine then just eliminating the unneeded balls.
