Not sure what kind of cue it was or what tip he was using, but it sure had a nice hit.

Escambia County bar patrons fought for their right to party Wednesday night when a masked-man with a BB gun tried to rob the business.

The suspect, Mark Emanuel Freeman, 27, was hit in the head with a pool stick and detained by customers of Richey's Ninth Avenue Billiards until Escambia deputies arrived.

It all started about 8:15 p.m. when a man wearing a black hooded jacket and a white scarf covering his face entered the bar.

Curtis Bullard was among the estimated 20 people inside.

"He put the gun to my head and to my buddy's shoulder. He started waving it at everybody in the place," Bullard, 21, said Thursday. "Then he walked past me and put his back to me. That was his first mistake."

Bullard swung his pool cue and connected with Freeman's head, knocking the suspect to the ground. Unfortunately, Freeman landed on top of Bullard, who became trapped as other bar customers joined the fight.

"I guess they didn't know who was who on the bottom," Bullard said. "I got beat up pretty bad."

Deputies arrived within minutes and arrested Freeman, who was taken to the Escambia County Jail. Deputies recovered the BB gun.

Freeman was charged with robbery with a firearm and battery for fighting with the bar patrons while trying to escape. Bond was set at $51,000.

too funny too!

Good story, serves a moron right for trying to pull an armed robbery with a BB gun! I had to laugh about the guy on bottom catching about as much as the would be robber though. Seen that happen many a time with "friends" trying to help out one guy fighting rolling around on the ground. A lady whaling away with a house cue did more damage than either of the guys fighting once.

Bringing a BB gun on an armed robbery is about the closest thing to bringing a knife to a gunfight. I think he will be charged with armed robbery with a gun even if it was a BB gun. Dumb ass. You can rob plenty of places w/o a gun or any weepon at all. All you have to do is think. Useing a gun on a robbery=serious time. FN kids don't know $hit now a days. Bar full of 20 yahoos...it's a wonder they didn't shoot his ass dead. Johnnyt
