Who is going? I am planning on going Wednesday, and Thursday. Will I have to pay an admission to get into the Vendors/Commercial area at the Riveria?

I will be going to play in the Singles event on Saturday the 12th and then also the team event, starting the 17th. This will be my teams tenth year out there to play in the team event (actually ninth because we played in Reno last year in the ACS and got ninth). They actually set it up pretty messed up because we ended up playing Fred Agnir's team twice (I think he posts on this site) within a pretty short time and ended up beating them twice which wasn't really fair to them to play us that fast again. It was definitely setup wrong.
We have finished as high as 16th in Vegas...it is a great time. Our team name is Squires from Kentucky.

I will be there as a spectator.I will fly in on 13th and leave the town on 14th and return on19th. to watch the semis & finals.
I do not know where I will be flying from because my schedule got messed up.I have room reserved in Riviera for 8 nights and have tickets to watch the pro event.

VegasBaby...i am so there. my first time @ open. if they can drag me from the poker table, i'll be at the tables....just kidding!

Since no one answered yet, no, the vendor area is open to all. They are set up around the walls of both tourney rooms.

:D
I'm going!! I'm so excited - I am actually taking the referee classes & training to become a BCA National Referee. I'm currently a certified BCA Ref - but you have to attend and do floor training to be a National Ref. And since that only covers half my days - I'm watching the pro matches, spending time with the sponsors and playing slots for the rest of the time! It's not getting here soon enough for me!!
:D

I'll be going for Masters Scotch, Masters Women's Singles, and Open Team. I am the only master on the team.

I actually won a spot to the BCA pro event, but turned it down for my team and doubles partner. Now I found out one of our team members may not go for a health reason, so we may not even have a team. :( We do have a backup player though.

Holy Canoli Linda! We are finally going to see each other!

I will be there on the 11th to the 21st and as always, looking forward to it!

Hopefully Bob's team will be able to bring it home again this yr. His team took home 1st Place last yr!

Cooooool! Meet you out by the pool, lol. I talked to Joanne A. and she doesn't think she is going for the first time in 10 years!

What division did Bob's team win? Congrats to him and hope he can take it again (unless he comes up against one of my NW teams  )

No Joanne? You gotta Be kidding me! Wow, going to have to call her to see what's up! I spoke with Bev about a month ago, she is looking forward to it, although they pulled her favorite machine last yr! No more streaking for her!

We for the most part stay in during the day, it's just too hot. I have a pool at home, so it's easier for me here to lay out and not as hot.

We have a bunch of friends that are night owls as we are. We get up at about 3 and go from there. We do a lot of the late night activities. The buffet at the Riv around 1 am is the bomb. And, accross the street rocks too! We go to the Comedy lub once a yr with several friends that we meet in Vegas, it's a great time..Hopefully, Bob will have late matches!

The team is in the open division for Bob.

I'll be out there every day for BCA. I'm a ref but I'm going to try to exceeed last year when I made the Monday redraw (Top 100) in singles. I suppose actually practicing once in a while would help that cause.

See you there! I'll be the one wearing stripes. ;)

since i live here i will be going. since i live here and my company is setting up the tables for the pro event....i will be there also.

will AZ have a room like at DCC??????

I will be there too. Playing in the Masters Singles and in the open teams. Looking forward to it. I might try to go thru the ref classes. An great event for a player of any skill. We need to try to set up a meeting place out there so we can all become aquianted better. Hope to see ya out there.

No, you dont need a ticket to watch the amateur event or to shop in the vendor area. You do need a ticket to watch the pro event. It is around $10 a day I think, but I am not sure.

The Riveria is fully booked, you may want to reserve your room earlier. A lot of players stay at the Budget Suite which is very close to the venue. I heard the Somerset is also a good place to stay.

Hope to see you there.:)

I'll be there 12th - 22nd. Singles & Team. My pitiful playing a$$ actually cashed in the open singles last year so everyone should give it a shot. Not sure if I'll be on a team, most of my pool playing friends draw their ball much better than me.

Sorry Eydie, I think EVERYTHING about the Riviera sucks except for the pool (both the tables & walking by the outdoor pool to & from matches for a good view). The buffet is atrocious. The steakhouse is fair but in Vegas you can do much better. And the table dealers are nothing but rude.

Agree
When will anothe hotel step up and take all the pool action in Vegas.
I have heard from a few people that other hotels are interested but its
tough to get all involved to make the move together.
Last year I talked with some reps from the Tropicana. They interviewed
me about my likes and dislikes about the events at the Riv. They seemed
really interested in trying to get the move. Oddly the Riv knew that they were there watching and talking to people.
I never heard anything after that. That was actually at last years APA
nationals in August. There were about 5 people from the Trop and they said they were looking into bringing in all the pool events.
I am not real sure why all the events are in the Riv. I am not on the inside but from the outside it does not appear like they give a great deal
and the location seems to be on a downward slide. The BCA and APA
nationals have really outgrown the location as well.

The Riv is not expensive compared to other hotels (read: second or third tier now with the Wynn, Venetian, Treasure Island, Trop, ...) and it has a lot of area to set up tables. I think other hotels with more rooms are going to be a lot more per room.

To answer the original question, I'm planning on being there the first weekend.
