First of all I am really happy that someone is trying to get things organized in the pool world and I think that this is probably the way forward.
The only possible issue could come in December with the Reno Open and the Mosconi Cup conflicting. I am sure that Jerry can enlighten me on this.

The way I see it the Reno Open or the Mosconi Cup will have to be scheduled around each other. If SVB, Rodney Morris and Archer are all trying to get the top spot for invitational and sponsorship reasons.
And they are selected again for the Mosconi Cup they will have a choice to make ranking points or represent their country.

Am I making too much of this? Probably, I do think this is they way to go even if the two events clash.

In the past, I think the Sands tournament has always been earlier than the Mosconi Cup, generally at the start of December while the MC is a week before Christmas.

That conflict is just one of the reasons that players will be able to drop one event from their rankings calculations in 2009. This way all players will be able to miss a single ranking event and not be punished in the rankings.
