BCA Show

Yea, I'm disappointed that it is in Charlotte. I am not very excited at all except to make some new contacts, maybe grab a new table line. Only excitement of the trip is that I'm going to Florida afterwards. Pat did you get to see the comodores last year, I didn't expect it to be fun but it was.

I was staying at the Mandalay bay, saw the band playing and didn't realize that I could go. It was hot that night and people were in the pool right below the stage, only if I could turn back time

Yea you missed the deadline to get badges for free if your BCA members. You can pay upfront at the show or online but it is $50 for non BCA members. Anyone who wants to go that actually posts and stuff I can register them and see if I can pull a string and get it for free otherwise it would be $25. Let me know.

A 10x10 booth is $1200, but i would imagine it changes year to year.
Chris,
I will be there from Wedneday night to Saturday. Give me a shout and we can meet up. Any other installers who want to get together give me a call. 609-709-2842

Pat,
If you don't hear from me give me a call (443)564-8922. You planning on buying anything? Maybe we can pool together and negotiate better deals.

First day of the show was pretty cool. A lot of good products out there. Any other installers check out the Gravity Level at the Olhausen booth? Curious other people's thoughts on that one. Seems like a really good simple idea, but didn't know if anyone on here had tried it yet.

Also wondering if any of you guys know where the good pool halls are around here, or where the pros are going to be playing this weekend.

Look forward to meeting any of you if you're down here. PM me if you wanna get together.

Thanks!

Josh - check out Smokin' Cue on University in Charlotte (it's where they had the prelims for the WPBA tourney), Rack 'em in Matthews is another hot spot for the pro's and Bailey's 51 in Pineville are a few. Not lookng like I will make the show and I live here.....that blows! We are in the midst of the APA cities tournament if you are interested. They have 80 7' Diamonds set up at the Metrolina Expo Center on the North side of Charlotte on Hwy 21.

Hope this helps and you find something to do in the "off time" of the show!

Robin

The show was.... really not worth it. Except for maybe the funniest thing I have ever seen. Ram Lighting's "easy ship pool table" the entire table breaks in half and fits on one pallet, I sat there staring at it for a good two minutes just giggling quietly. WHAT A JOKE!!! just to specify the table literally comes in two 4' sections. Simonis's new little flip swatch is pretty nice though I did like that. All in all the place looked like a graveyard, I can't wait for Vegas again next year.

I won't knock the show but it seems whenever it's held somewhere other
then Vegas it's a dud. The BCA will get the message someday.

Could you elaborate on what that is for those of us who were not there?

It's basically a laser pointer calibrated to point straight down at a crosshair on a pedestal when level. If your surface is not level, the laser will still hang straight down and point at the low side. Pretty cool idea, but I have to wonder how practical it is for our application.
