BCA to Implement Illegal Substance Testing for All Members

This is just what I heard from some source, but I figured I would relay the info.

Due to the increase in the speed of breaks (+24 mph), the BCA and other organizations are going to start testing for steroids and other growth hormones. In addition to this women that are pregnant will not longer be allowed to break due to the increase in their hormone levels.

Not only do steroids increase physical strength but it also increased mental capacity. Removing drugs from the game will result in a reduction of runouts and well played balls.

The argument regarding phenolic tips will soon be overshadowed with this new development.

Please don't beat me up, I am just the messenger. :)

I'm sure this will include banning of the drinking of alcohol during league play as well....

Brian

Yes as well as soda because it contains caffeine. Each member will only be allowed to drink 20 oz of spring water per match. This is gonna suck.

I heard it was for a different reason....
Steroids have been proven to shrink balls... And it's the rules of the game that you aren't allowed to use anything that damages the equipment!!! It's costing a fortune to have to keep replacing the balls the roid users keep shrinking!

Brian

Wow makes me wonder if the BCAPL is loosing there minds? Realy steroids?

Bill Stock breath easy, I wont be waisting my time arguing this one.

See I knew I couldn't be the only one to have heard about this.

I can accept the testing for performance enhancing substances,
Just as long as they:
Agree never to test for performance degrading substances.

I don't understand what is the problem here. Pool is a sport, right? Do you see tenis players drinking beer during a match? Don't you guys would like to see the sport in the Olympics?

I can't seem to figure out why you would post this? The BCA is allowed to make rules that effect their equipment with the Phenolic tips. Starting rumors with absolutely no backing doesn't help anyone.

With all the things that are going on in the world, and our sport losing pool rooms left and right, don't you think it would be better if we didn't make up crap that discounts organizations that are actually doing good things for the sport?

The way I read it is a tongue in cheek response to Gulyassy's thread about his new tip being banned. The banter going back and forth is just crazy. In the thread someone mentioned:
"whats next, drug testing? lol"

I replied with:
Laugh all you want... But...

The ultimate goal of organizations such as the WPA is to get IOC acceptance. In order to get that they will have to follow WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) rules. What that would ultimately come down to from my understanding is that random drug tests would be required for WPA sanctioned events IF they ever get to the point of becoming IOC accepted.

This is just a silly thread IMHO blowing off steam about people getting way to worked up over a rule that is a rule. The BCAPL set the rules for their playground. If people don't like them, you find a new playground.

The funny thing is, in the Gulyassy thread people are blasting him when almost every other thread people are blasting the BCAPL...

The real question is, how many of those complaining actually play in regional and/or national BCAPL events?

Brian

I hope no one does take this seriously. But you have to remember, there are 1000's of people that don't live on AZ all day long, and many of them check it from time to time, read a post or two and that's it.

People, pool players especially, love to have some juicy rumors to talk about at the pool room. I'd just hate to see the BCA or any great organization get their name tarnished, even a tiny bit. We need all the help we can get.

Dan, will the ban be on just performance enhancers, or will they also test for pot, beer, and other social drugs???

What about Androne? Will over the counter training supplements and vitamins cause false positives? Like the Tour De France, will they test out of season?

:D

How many times have you heard someone say they play better having had a beer or two? Or smoked some pot? Or freebased heroin? Or had a couple of crack rocks? Maybe dropped some LSD?

They ARE performance enhancing! :)
