I wanted to thank my fellow teammates, Chad Barber (barber23), Jason Burkhart (Getnbzy) and Mitchell Ellerman for agreeing to team up with me and ultimately for carrying each other through the BCAPL Southwest Regional Championship this past weekend at Ft. McDowell Casino in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

We played some very tough opponents from the southwestern states and overcame a hot-seat loss to get to the finals and double-dip a very strong team from Phoenix.

Nice Job Stinger's Venom!!

I heard a rumor the event ended a day early, as a friend when out to watch the finals at 10am Monday, and everyone was packed up and gone. But he did good at Tri-Card Poker, so it all ended good.

Way to go Bruce! You managed to post something negative and try to rain on somebody's parade! You are the ultimate nit...

Congratulations to Jerry and the rest of his team, on a hard-fought win! Mark's tournaments always draw a tough field!

Very well done, guys.

I tried to check out the results on playbca, but it's a little confusing when I see the placing - was something left out, or does it just show kinda funny? I can't quite tell how many people showed up and whatnot.

A little surprised to see a few people from Washington, too!

He replied to a year old thread and nobody noticed. Jerry was referring to the 2011 Southwest Regional. The 2012 just recently ended.

That's why we keep you around, DRW. ;)

I was thrown off, sort of, because of:

JR Burkhart Phoenix Arizona USA 1094 8 and Out 09/04/2012 SWMOT 1 2000.00
Bret Huth Phoenix Arizona USA 1094 8 and Out 09/04/2012 SWMOT 1 2000.00
Brian Reich Glendale Arizona USA 1094 8 and Out 09/04/2012 SWMOT 1 2000.00
John Smith Phoenix Arizona USA 1094 8 and Out 09/04/2012 SWMOT 1 2000.00

Saw Burkhart on there and just figured that the rest of the team was going under aliases.

I kind of expected the result list to be a lot longer.. is this considered a small or medium sized event? Noticed that there were no Master teams either.

Edit: Just noticed that it's only their 3rd annual tournament.

BCAPL SouthWest Regional

This event had over 500 entrants. It grew 25% over last year.
$23,365 in cash payouts ($6,000 added). This has become a great event!

You can get the results in 2 ways:

go to www.ctsondemand.com
click on 2012 SouthWest Regional
Click on the appropriate event
look at the charts etc.
(poke around because these charts have a lot of info on them)

OR

You can go to www.playbca.com
click on 'events' dropdown menu - click on 2012 southwest Regional
find the proper event - click on it.
The winners will be shown.
All the fields are active so if you want by name - click on name and it will be alpha - if you want place then click on place and they will be in order of finish.

They are just putting in the winners and they are not all up to date yet!!

BTW - there was only one team event. It allowed a team to have 4 players with a total of 12 rating points. (open=2, advanced= 3, master= 4, grandmaster = 5)

There are not enough master players in all of Arizona to field a master team event!

The event was scheduled to finish on Sunday PM. So Bruce's friend should ask ahead of time to see if they are going to be playing.

Not enough masters in AZ? That's surprising. From the sounds of it, there are a lot of great players down there. Oregon and Washington seem a little pool-defficient, but our regional event is pretty dang big from the looks of it. Between October and March, there's not much else for a person to do when it's raining up here. :embarrassed2:

That's also what I was thinking, that most of these events are scheduled to finish up on the weekends. Always good to call ahead any time you're going to be spending some time getting somewhere.. of course, I'm guessing his friend is retired and didn't have anything else to do. :p

By the way, any relation? :D ...

Pretty ragged, eh? Doesn't sound too shabby for the A/M division. The guys I know up here that place that high in the regional aren't slouches, so I'll have to keep an eye out for you! :p Did Sunny not play?

The event was scheduled to finish on Sunday PM. So Bruce's friend should ask ahead of time to see if they are going to be playing.

But they did not ask, they believe the advertising, so like I said they made the 60 mile drive, found out it was over, and took advantage of the Tri Card Poke table going home with some of the Indians Money.

Bruce, I believe his point was that he had something happy that he was proud of and wanted to share. Youre response was nothing but negative, I know you say its my opinion but your oppinion on what? It wasn't an opinion on his post cos yourt answer really had nothing to do with it. Just saying.
