.

Stix n Stones Abington is a great place. If you go I will

mAYBE..?

If you'll be in Attleboro why not going to Providence RI...? 20min drive
Snookers is a nice place to play, eat and watch great pool. All kinds of action.

I am in MA area too, give me a pm if don;t find any sparing partners.

I would highly recommend the following places:

Snookers-Providence RI on Wednesday night they have a very strong 9 ball tourney. $20 and great competition. About 50 minutes from Boston.

Amazin Billiards in Malden, MA. This is a private club so not sure what their policy is, but the tables are great and there are plenty of good players there. Awesome 3C billiard tables too.

Grand China Salem, NH. This is 1/2 chinese restaurant, 1/2 pool hall. There are 9 8.5' Brunswick tables that play great, and 1 9' Gold Crown. All in very good shape. Very friendly bunch of people, though not as many hardcore players. Thursday night handicap 9 ball tourney $12, and Friday night unhandicapped 9 ball $10. There are typically a handful of decent B players and usually just 1 low A player who wins every week (shrugs shoulders and shuffles feet lol). Good food too. I really like this place, just really nice people. About 35-40 minutes north of Boston.

Stix and Stones as others have mentioned. Nice tables and plenty of good players. About 40 minutes from Boston.

Hope this helps,

Amazin in Malden probably has the best tables in the area now that Brighton Billiards shut down a few years ago. Plus it's close to Boston. But as Ken said, it's a private club and with only 8 tables, I've seen it get filled up early with the regulars and you probably won't get much chance to play. I'm sure they'd let you play without the membership though for the day.

Snookers in RI is great and the place, can be a long drive from Boston if you are heading there during rush hour as you are hitting pretty much every major tie up to get there on 3 different roads hehe.

The Billiards Cafe in Ayer, MA where I play with my son most often is about 45 min from Boston, on Sundays there is a Junior league there that I'm always at with my son, doors open at 1, their league starts at 2, although the pool room technically does not open till 3 to the public. If you come by to play and see how the Junior program is, I'm sure we'll let you in. Send me a PM with a contact # if you like some info or to arrange something.

Stix and Stones is pretty good, I think it was called something else a bit ago, tables were well done, although not up to Amazin Billiards quality.

Come by Ayer Sunday, watch the kids shoot, there is also a snooker table there and a nice new 7" Diamond table in the back room to play on.

Thanks for the info guys. Snookers sounds like the place, as I'm actually staying in attleboro on sat. I might not make it there that day, just depends on how tired I am after work and a flight. Will definately stop in tho since i have 8 days to burn.

Just for the record I want to make something clear... There are NO real pool rooms in the city.

Don't waste your time looking for one.

Amazin billiards in Malden is the closest "real pool room" to the city.

Guests are 100% welcome at Amazin Billiards in Malden -- no worries! 40 Faulkner St. Malden for your GPS. With many of the other player-oriented rooms around Boston having closed, Mazin's room attracts a lot of veteran players from a wide area for its 8 full sized pool tables, and for billiard players, unparalleled with its 5 heated billiard tables. You will do well to take in those two rooms -- Snookers in Providence RI and Amazin Billiards in Malden.

Snookers has a Wednesday night handicapped 9-ball tournament that can attract upwards of 50 players -- on a weeknight!!

thanks steve! I will be sure to stop in at both places, the billiards tables at amazin sold me. Hope your well brother, sure has been many moon since i saw you.

Thanks for the kind words Scott! By all means Ghost feel free to PM me. I go to Snookers pretty regularly for the Wednesday night tourney, but I'd be happy to play some where ever!
