Because I can!!

Also, it is so brash for you to open yourself like that. That is a very mature way to solve you let opinions be heard. You sound like a little crybaby. "My America can beat your Europes butt!" LOL

I love my country too, but you are just like Grady. The US isnt the superpower that it once was and neither is Grady. Things change baby girl. Get over it. It is that kind of attitude that you and grady both have is the reason that this country is laughed at by the rest of the 1st world countries.

Also, we might want to think about taking care of the things that are going wrong in our country before we start trying to take care of everyone elses problems overseas. Perhaps our fine nation, has other, not so moral, reasons for all of this relief. Hmm...i bet that is true.

Oh well, what the heck do I know, I only do this sh*t for a living. LOL ;)

Oh dont get me wrong Freddy. I got a lot of knocks to the head and a lot of kicks to the butt. But when my teachers praised me, and that was maybe once every 6 months, that really made my day. And instead of humility I should have said humbleness.

Now that's what I was talking about!

with respect most of what youve said is personal opinion and i hope that what you are actually teaching our kids are facts and not ideas and ideals.sure our country isnt perfect and never will be but the same 1st world countries you say laugh at us are the first ones calling on america for help when they need it.

That is so funny...perhaps you might want to think about the opinions of a well read, college educated, Political Science teacher. Perhaps you should step out into reality and do a bit of reading yourself...I suggest, as your first read, Friedmans "The World is Flat." That would be a hell of a start for you.

PS: Why don't you ask the Iraqi's how they feel about our relief.

PSS: Why don't you ask the people of New Orleans about our relief...thats a joke...you probably won't get it though.

Why? Do you know one?

Sorry, but your posts come off as very arrogant and anti-American. And teaching Poly-sci or Economics at the HS level DOES NOT qualify as "DOING THIS S**T EVERY DAY."

If you worked in the state department or were in Iraq then maybe.

As it is, you're reading the same news as the rest of us and forming your opinion based on a very pessimistic world view. Please spare us your interpretations.

Cheers,
RC

PS - Have you asked the Iraqi's what they think of our relief? The answers appear to be mixed, as you would expect. Although they seem to be getting more positive as the AQ/foreign terrorist influence is waning.

PSS - In a natural disaster, the federal government IS NOT the first responder, if you had paid attention in any government classes in college, you would have a better understanding of the roles of different levels of government. Blaming BUSH for what happened after Katrina is SO ignorant that it should be embarrassing.

Also, the role of relief in a major natural disaster is to SAVE LIVES. Not keep people from being inconvenienced. The fact that people lost their homes and belongings is unfortunate, but minor in comparison to losing their lives.

You may think you're accomplishing something by trying to bully people who think America is great on an internet forum, but IMO you're WAY out of line.

Cheers,
RC

........I can understand why the Americans are not invited to their tournaments. There is a good reason why we are hated in most other parts of the world and if you don't believe it, then you need to crawl out from under your 1950's rock.

You are a little out of line with this type of argument. Looking after the interests of USA both inside and outside USA is just one constituent part of precisely what those elected to govern the USA are elected to do. If in accomplishing that they attract some hatred then they will have to deal with that hatred in a manner which is also best suited to the interests of the USA. The underlying principles are exactly the same for all countries and if you don't believe that you may need to travel a bit more.

Secondly there is good reason to believe that the extent of hatred of USA worldwide is grossly overestimated and that a lot of that hatred would in any case still exist in the sporting context irrespective of foreign policy. Biased USA sports media attitudes and a crass and generally unjustified assumption amongst the USA sporting public that USA are much better equipped with sporting talent relative to the rest of the world than they actually are in reality probably rank as bigger contributors than USA foreign policy is towards creating any 'hatred' which exists of USA sporting personalities throughout the world.

Furthermore, contrary to your apparent perception, there have in fact already been many WPA sanctioned tournaments outside USA to which American nationality players have been invited. Unfortunately, speaking very generally, a large number of American players do not appear to like travelling outside USA very much and even WPA sanctioned tournaments are not that potentially lucrative thereby often rendering overseas events a risky proposition from a player's profit making perspective. The number of USA players you observe actually taking part in overseas events is not necessarily by any means representative of the number invited or eligible to play.

Sixpack and Mikey,

I only wish that I could live in the world that you live in. It would make my life a whole lot easier. However, I respect your opinions.

Don't wish for that, 135 degrees and 98% humidity is not ideal golfing weather at the moment:p

Congratulations on your engagement, I am reminded by your signature and by the invoices which have started to pour in for assorted services, that I'm getting married out here on Nov 8th:rolleyes: :)

And I can't state what you sound like, due to the forum rules. I never stated "My America can beat your Europes [sic] butt"! The topic I was addressing didn't have anything to do with the United States versus Europe.

What I was addressing in my response is likening pool players to "fools." In fact, this is eaxctly the mentality which is keeping pool stuck in the mud. The so-called "professionals" of the sport are not given any respect.

Yet, they are the ones who perform at all major pool events, usually paying their own way. People stand in line, asking for autographs of the fools. Some seed-gatherers even want to have their pictures taken with the fools. Imagine that.

That's right. These fools are surrounded by fans and pool enthusiasts at every event they go to. I don't seem to recall anybody making fun of these pool champions, the way people like you do on this forum.

The Hall of Famers who devoted their life to the sport are not fools. They are champions in their discipline, something the seed-gatherers and the basket-weavers can't achieve in pool. So, rather than give them their propers, you want to act as if they're lepers.

Last time I checked, this is a pool forum. If a few kindred souls follow their dreams to become all that they can be, so what if their priorities are different than the seed-gatherers? Does it give the nits who can't play a lick the right to bash them at every opportunity on this pool forum?

Yes, playing professional pool is expensive, and most cannot make ends meet, but that doesn't give the seed-gatherers the right to call them "fools." They continue on their mission in life, which is to be the best that they can be. This is something that should be admired, not ridiculed, again, especially on a pool forum.

Next time you step outside of your lovely home, don't forget to enjoy the sweet smell of freedom that my countrymen are dying for. I'm proud of the United States of America, and I condemn all those who laugh at my country for the reasons given by you. How dare you!

Why not pack your belongings and move to Siberia. For every one of you, there's a thousand around the world who would love to take your place in America. Enjoying the opportunies we have in this country doesn't come for free.

Take your act down to the NPR forum. You should fit right in.

America is over rated by the Americans who have never travelled the world. The people who have never travelled dont have the insight that the people lucky enough to have travelled have. Therefore they stand by America with out knowing the anything outside their world, so I dont blame them, i feel bad for them.
