Loyal enough to play for his heritage country...

At least if you were promoting an event overseas, you'd be loyal enough to play on Team USA and not on the team of the foreign country.

JAM

Somtimes you take this "American" or "Team USA" talk too far. The heritage of any player should go up and above your place of birth. I was born, raised and served in the military for the U.S.A.; however, if I was still playing, and given the chance to represent Puerto Rico in any international event, my Puerto Rican heritage goes above my "Americanism." Given that Koreans have a rich cultural deference to their heritage, I would not blame (one bit) this player for promoting and participating on behalf of the foreign country.

Freddy,

A couple of things. I never thought you werent a good player...just wondered if you were as strong as you claimed...i have heard different from great players. These players are not from Louisville and I can guarantee that the ones you talked to have never heard of me since I am just a banger! LOL I have never claimed to have played on their level or even know John or Truman personally...I know who they are and thats about it. Hell, I cant string three banks together playing short rack.

There is no need for you to take everything so personally and that goes for everyone. Some of you people are very good at dishing it out but they just can't take it. I am just a fellow with a reasonable amount of intelligence who loves to state the obvious, at least as I see it. I dont really give a crap who I make mad or anything like that or who agrees or disagrees.

As far as it goes for you, Mr. Bentenviga (sp), I wish you nothing but success. You are great for the game of pool and I commend all that you have done for the game...sometimes we disagree on some things...just like with some of the other posters...but at the end of the day, I hope that everyone on this board is going towards the same goal, the betterment of the game. However, there are many of us on the board who feel that some posters are going about it the wrong ways. I am just one of the only ones who will say it. I am an opinionated person on here and in real life. I am blunt and honest. If you folks cant handle that, I am just about as sorry as I can be...but it wont change! LOL

PS: Freddy: I checked out your new blog on your site...very good stuff.

This is a very egocentric view. Not too surprising from someone who likes to flaunt their bankroll and possessions. Could a little patriotism be too much to ask?

i am patriotic i pay my taxes, i employ people-and match their social security with holding as i legally have to as an employer, i am a lawful citized-i have no criminal record.i donate to charitys, help out familys in need and contribute to socity by helping people with business advice when its approiate. i'm an assett to america, not a welfare collecting parasite. having said that I believe thats better than being american flag waving, tax avoiding card room bum. i'm just not a cheer leader for america just because i live here. america has been good for me, i have no complaints, but there is more than america and i wish everyone who wanted to could experience what the world has to offer.

living in one country is too narrow too, idealy i would like to live in about 5 or 6 places and follow the nice weather, i cant stand living in one place, i have lived in 2 different states since 93.

There are lots of great places to live. I've travelled around Europe and South America and there are several countries that I think would make great places to live and in some cases, have better business opportunities than the US currently does. On balance, I'd rather continue to live in the US though.

That doesn't mean the US sucks, which is the tone I was responding to in Bomber's post.

Cheers,

I give a crap, and so would my cousin, Leslie Shelton, if only Leslie were still alive today. A handsome, strong, blond-haired, blue-eyed, country boy from Centreville, Virginia, he joined the Marines, wanting to serve his country. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for America when he was killed in Vietnam, protecting the freedom that you enjoy. His name is on the Vietnam Wall, a tribute to his service.

He'll never have the joys of falling in love and getting married, like you, or being a father for that matter. All that is gone. Yes, he gives a crap about the anti-American sentiments, as do I.

God bless America, home of the brave, and the land of the free. Some of us Americans appreciate Leslie Shelton and love this country.

This is hilarious. A professional pool player is being cussed out by another players' lapdog/caddy, because of his attitude in regards to professional pool.

Let's see. BlackJack has been at this for 20+ years? How long have you been Keith's mascot for?

I ain't nobody's mascot or lapdog, and my connection to pool came long before I met Keith McCready.

What's hilarious is your insulting me in this manner. Next time you feel the need to relieve yourself, make sure you're standing in front of a strong wind before you aim.

I would ask if you have a dictionary, but I think I know the answer to that. The things you mentioned are following required laws. Good for you that you have made a few bucks. However, that fact alone means nothing as to character. Just look at Oscar Wyatt, he is a parasite on a much grander scale than any welfare recipient. I don't know what the 'card room bum' statement refers to, so no comment. You say "America has been good to me, I have no complaints" , and it seems nothing good to say either.

Good enough, Bomber

Ok Bomber, all is forgiven. I just had to take one more bite out of you for all the consternation you created for me with that gol'durned thread. My naturally vindictive appetite has been sated, so you will hear no more from me on that old subject. Lastly, while I am usually in opposition to the left-sided view point of most college profs, I gotta respect you for having the cods to put it out there.

And her response to BlackJack's post was called for? Are you kidding me? If I start dating Maria Sharipova tomorrow (please, please, please), does that mean that I get to have a valued opinion on the state of women's tennis in a few years?

You don't even know me, Pal.

You and Blackjack can take your insults and stick 'em where the sun don't shine. I have every right post my thoughts, regardless of whether I play pool today. When I was hitting 'em, there weren't too of my peers who could beat me in my neck of the woods, but I didn't have what it takes to be a pool champion. I respect those who have devoted their life to this sport and achieved excellence, but I don't admire those who condemn me because I happen to be a girlfriend of a pool player today.

Outstanding, Jennie. You are not Keither's mascot, but you're his inspiration. As far as I'm concerned you did your time, an extended tour with Geese and a reinlistment with Ether. Landing with you is probably the greatest thing that ever happened to him. That's strong, baby, and that's good enough for me. You are a card carrying union member as far as I'm concerned, and let it be known, the pool world union I'm talking about aint got no whole lotta members!

ok america has provided the venue in which i could work hard and make a living, i had to fight the govt and win to keep my business open and to keep my $$$. had i lost that war i would have lost everything, i didnt do anything wrong and settled amny years ago, the gvt makes it very hard on businesses and owners, employees and the working class dont see this stuff but a pool room owner does on a small scale dealing wioth the health dept as a examlpe i didnt get anything for free, have rich parents etc. it has been an uphill battle from day one. i play by the rules etc.

i feel terrible for anyone who goes to war to defend america my dad was in ww2, so was my uncle and he still isnt right and he is 83 years old.

but i'm not obligated to do anymore for america than i have done, when i was 18 i had to go regiser for the draft, which i did. but i'm not going to say i love america because i dont, i dont hate it either, its ok. i have wonderful friends here, finally a sucessful biz, home, etc. but i made that happen not america.

whats wrong with saying its ok? its not a knock, but i'm head over heels in love with america, and i'm not going to lie about my feelings. i dont hate america, i believe in defending america and protecting my interests as well. is that ok?

Wow this is a deep thread, from my perspective I lived the first 24 years of my life in Northern Ireland right through the troubles and the last 10 in Philadelphia. The USA for me has been a dream come true and I would not live anywhere else. JAM you are a very patriotic woman and you should be proud of your country. People do not hate Americans in other countries, they have a problem with the actions of the government, but they understand that this does not represent the average person in the street. America is a unique, very young and ever changing place but I think thats what makes it so beautiful. Remember there is no "best country in the world" each country is what you make it.

Shawn I have noticed that you have a marked propensity toward insulting people. I don't see any valuable contributions that you make to this forum. ON the other hand, you are insulting one of the best posters on this forum. You owe JAM a sincere apology.

JAM has made more positive contributions to this forum than you will ever dream of providing. Your insulting style of posting lacks compatibility in this forum. You have made similar insulting remarks to many others in other posts and it seems to be your style which doesn't look good on anyone.

Your name-calling is adequate for a temporary or permanent time-out.

No, you're not obligated to do one thing in return for whatever you reaped in America. And admitting that is very honest of you. Glad to know that. BTW the federal tax code favors the small businessman while the average working guy with a W-2 has virtually no room to deduct anything.

problem is i'm not small biz or big biz, i employ 750 people, i lose 35% of everything i make the deductions disappear at my income level. its better than denmark where the top tax bracket is 62%.

my point on this whole thing is everywhere is ok and no where is the greatest place ever.

it just seems that in america if your not jumping up and down waving a flag screaming "america is the greatest", your labeled a terroist, whats wrong with likeing it here but not loving it?

i can't help but to get into this mess...
...
Fatboy,,,i'd liked you....but i can't believe this is how you feel about america...it makes me sick...

as you may probobly know,, i'm a filipino by origin,,,i love the Philippines,,,but i equally loved America and very patriotic and loves to defend america in any level of intelectual discussion-( and mind you - willing to die for this great country if called for)--problem is

you seem to speak for many when you say you have to be well travelled to undersrstand all this American biases and stuff and America is not that so great....

i think that you are badly mistaken,,,had you been born in a different country like me..you will probobly have a diffrent perspective...i believe that people who have such stands for america are not real american...i know that sounds really strong-- but it's true,,,,besides being born here--i guess that makes one an american....but i think being an american is someone who loves and stands by this GREAT NATION...

you mentioned that your old folks are veterans of wwII,,,that's great and i owe them forever for their sacrifice but their sacrifice does not really covers "your present generation"....all it takes is for one generation to turn their back on america and that's what we see happening on ithink a lot of "americans"....

i will sum it up...if an "american" does not love this country...that person is not a real american....that person is somebody who takes advantage of what america can offer and does not care about America...

you will probobly will hate me for this...

BTW,,this goes for all the "american bashers"....
