this was a few years back - a guy calls me up all in a panic...says he was going to refinish and "rebuild" his table, but has come to a major snag....he lost all the original bolts and screws, and the pockets as well. He has no instructions and no idea how to proceed.

if i had only known before hand, how cheap the guy was, i would have said no! but i kinda felt bad for him, because he had two young sons that really wanted to play - and dad was letting them down big-time with his botched table rebuild...

anyway...he already had the table stripped down to bare wood...and he had already purchased some cheap cloth and cheap cushions...he just wanted me to take over where he left off......but all he had left to spend was $300.

yes - run is what I should have done.
but i saw the boys standing there, eagerly waiting to hear some sort of good news - and i just couldnt say no. i told him, give me your dam $300 and gimme the dam table - i'll be back in a month.

I used his cloth and cushions (as much as I didnt want to) but I was already in the hole way more than I wanted to be...and wasnt about to spring for new simonis and good rubber

but i did turn her back into a sexy well playing table...and made two young men (and one cheap dad) very very happy in the process.

this was the scene when i arrived... and other than the slate (not shown) this is all the parts he had.

Very nice job.

Very Nice Mr. Bond! Those cushions look like the cheap Imperial Master Speed. The owner did you a favor...You can now go back in a couple of years and replace them...They are sure to turn into rock.

yup - and those two boys have probably reduced the cloth to shreds.

hmm... maybe i should call him LOL

more good news for the next mechanic: there's now a copy of the original owners manual screwed to the frame underneath :)

Now that has to be some top notch service For working on pride more then profit. That tale looks great. Way to go there Mr. Bond.... even finding a owners manual nice.
