Have you been over to the Dakota Cue Club yet?
Nope, haven't played much pool over the last two years, maybe 3 hours total. Never heard of that place to be honest. Unless it was another establishment that changed names, do you remeber the location

It's off 12th street, by the old K-mart. I delivered and set up the Diamonds and rebuilt one GC3 there last December, so it's new.

In the 2 months I've been working in Malarkey's, I've seen so many players coming back to the tables to play it's unreal, players that had quit coming because of the way the tables were before. When the tables play right, there really is no comparison, even the house Pro Dave from up at the Golden Fleece pool room in Kenmore about 60 miles away, came down and played on one of the GC1's I rebuilt for 3 1/2 hours, and they've got 10 Diamond 9ft ProAms in their pool room;)

Russian Dave's a smart enough guy that he might be wanting to add a "RKC Gold Crown" to his fleet of Diamonds. Who would have thought all those diamonds and players prefer the RKC GC!!! Probably a bad idea for him because I hear that once you have one RKC GC.......all the other tables are inferior....Diamond better be paying attention!!!! Good job Glen

My Before and After

Here's a table I worked on not too long ago. Before I got to it, another guy had brutally hacked up the ends of the rubber when replacing it, and covered the table with some slow, loose cloth:

Corner-Before1.jpg

FacingNailed.jpg

Every pocket was this bad. Some were cut slightly short, and others way long like these.

We were able to strip and reapply the rubber, then trim down the ends properly.

And here's the finished product with the pockets finished properly and tightened up and the cloth replaced with new Tournament Blue Simonis 860HR:

Your name on here reminds me of "Clubby" an old player from around Dayton from many moons ago. You probably never heard of him.
You know it's funny Josh. After all these years the sight of a beautiful pool table still makes me want to grab my cue. Nice job!

Some before and after pics of a Diamond Pro I'm working on....
2010-03-24 17_24_04.jpg

Wood on bottom side of rail was damaged from so many re-covers that I had to replace it with new poplar.
2010-03-28 14_29_59.jpg

I used a router to remove the damaged wood.
2010-03-28 18_25_32.jpg

Finished product with new wood, Diamond rubber, 3/16" neoprene facings, and Simonis 860.

I'll tell you what Jack, you have MASTERED that stapling pattern buddy, I'm proud of you, great work on the rest of the rails as well. Just keep working one table at a time, don't get ahead of yourself...and ALWAYS do the best you can...and if you have questions about something...CALL someone that knows, that IS what a professional does...and you are fast becoming a PROFESSIONAL:D

I'll be taking a road trip cross the state to Malarkey's very soon just to know what playing on a decent table is like.

Thanks for taking time to talk to me today, Glen. You're a genius who's living the life. Good on ya!

When you go into Malarkey's, you'll see the tables with the Simonis 860HR Tour Blue on them, they're the ones rebuilt:D

This is the pockets on a 9ft Brunswick Heritage from about 1974. The slate shelves don't line up with the wood backing, leaving a sharp slate edge that always cuts the cloth off in the pockets as the result, and has been in this condition since the table was first built.

By using a table saw and slicing 1/16"th strips off of a 3/4" pine board, you can use the thin strips to layer in and build out the slate liner flush with the bottom edge of the slate pocket cut so there's no more cloth getting cut off in the pockets.
