In an earlier post I listed this cue as an unknown cue, and I asked for information thanks to those who posted replies. Due to your information I have think I have identified the cue as a very early Heubler, that was made when Paul was working with Bob Meucci. This cue has characteristics of both makers, IE, the plastic insert and pin used as a staple by Paul Heubler, and the long ferrule which became a trade mark for Bob Meucci.

Here are the photo's before and after restoration, which I did for an AZ Member.

These are what I started with!!

This cue belonged to my oldest friend who passed away almost three years ago. He won the Chicago amateur billiards championship back in the 1950’s. This man kept many young people (including myself) off the street and showed us that hard work and honesty always paid off. His sons gave me the cue as they knew our 50 year history, and that we shot pool back in the late 50’s and early 60’s; at All Star Bowl just North of Chicago, in fact, Joe Gold’s uncle owned the place.

After watching the AZ boards for awhile, I decided to trust the cue’s restoration to Craig Rittel at Full Splice Billards. He has been great to work with and has shown himself to be a class act.

I look forward to holding the cue in my hands and playing with it, seeing if my friend’s good karma can pass my way.

Thanks Craig.

The cue arrived today and it's better than I hoped for, Craig did a terrific job in the restoration of this cue and I offer this as a public thank you. He rebuilt the cue and shipped it priority; he would not even accept my payment until he knew that I was totally pleased with his work. What a great guy to work with!! Thanks again.

Thanks Mason, I really like bringing back the dead, sometimes I kinda understand how Jesus felt!!!!!:D This cue was certainly one of those cases, however, the gentleman explained the cues history to me and he put his trust in me without ever seeing my work except on this forum. Because of this, I could not fail!!!!;)

Thanks for the kind words Mason and have a great day!!!!!

Cue Resoration

It is nice to see old cues being restored like this. Who knows how many more years and balls this cue might now see.

Very nice work.

I totally agree Robert, in fact I think this cue has a great deal of life left in it. When I restored it, I also replaced the cues pin which was bent, and the ferrule on the shaft which was lose. In addition, the cue was originally 57 inches long, the gentleman who the cue was restored for also requested another shaft to be made. I made the additional shaft 30" long, and completely re-balancing the cue during re-assembly for the extra length. In addition the cue really has a very nice hit, solid and crisp.

Thanks for the kind words, and have a great night!!

Craig your work looks amazing...truly a job well done...and its stories like this that make me proud to be a part of one of the only true gentlemen's games left.

WOW! Amazing before/after pics, the cue came out awesome. What did you use for finish,PPG?

Lenny, I used the same thing I have been using for more than two year's Super Glue!!! I know, I know there are many people who would say this or that about Super Glue in general. However, first I doubt anyone applies it like do. Second, if something works why chnage it, due to my application process, the finished product is a little softer than normal Super Glue finishes, which seem to separate from rings or chip when hit on something. But, this I can say for certain, the process I use is mine alone, I found it by experimenting with finishing cues.

Thanks for the kind words, and have a great night!!!
