this will be a long post, sorry. JMO...Mike Benders cues are the best ever made hands down! You can look at all the cues out there, not many can say their ring work on the butt lines up with the shafts ring work when tightened up to the butt. But the thing you notice is when you put a Bender cue together, its as tight of a joint you will ever get period!! and does not change after a long time. My cue is 12 yrs old and still takes time to screw together (no wonder everyone wants to play me after I put my cue together, I must look tired!). Theres no slop in the joint which is un heard of on a wood type joint. Its like playing with a one peice cue but with the feeling of confidents just knowing its still the same everytime. Now with that said you can still spot me the 5ball as I'm not proud, BUT I'm PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!

p.s. this is in no way saying other cue builders don't do a great job and I do own other very high end cues..but llike I said JMO as a player/cue repairman....WHATS YOURS??

It seems like nowadays people are apologizing more and more for the way they feel and the things they say. Everyone is so afraid of stepping on feet. I guess we would still be an English colony if we felt that way 200+ years ago. On a lighter note, I think my Nitti sneaky and my old Joss are the two best cues on earth. And I will not apologize for that. Look up JoeyA's cue and you will see a masterpiece. I have yet to play with one but if I get a chance to pick one up I definately will.

He makes a nice looking cue. I just could never get used to the taper on his shafts.

I had the best looking Omega/dpk cue I have ever seen, and had to let it go because I couldnt adjust.

Thats just me.

Look for the article on Mike and Tracy (and a more in depth story of the hows and whats of Omega/dpk) in the Feb '10 InsidePOOL Magazine (possibly out by the Derby City Classic).

My Dishaw is 16 years old and while there may be a bit of slop in the wood to wood joint, screwed together it doesn't come loose at all. I've seen other cues where the ring work lines up, the names just don't come to mind at the moment and I'm in a hurry.

I will definetly look out for that article! Mike is a great guy. He put a lot of thought and work when making my 'Bender'! He is also a straight pool player. Since that is my favorite game, my bias dictated me liking him. Well, I have had many cues but there is always one that runs from the pack. My 'Bender' is that for me.

I had played with a Cognoscenti for years and decided to change cues. I wanted something similar in terms of hit and was told to try a Bender. I bought one off eBay, might have been from Scott Lee?, not sure. Simple. Birdseye points into ebony. No big frills. After getting used to how incredibly stiff it was, I can honestly say it hit as good or better than any cue I ever hit balls with. I've hit balls with other peoples Bender cues and they all seem to have a really sweet hit. Hard to say enough good things about the playability of his cues. Now as far as his workmanship goes...........I think he takes it even higher.:)

Thanks to custmqs and him letting me at least try some of the cues in his awesome collection. I can't agree with the Bender is the best statement. I want a bender eventually, I loved the way his play. Hands down for consistancy, quality, and play ability I have to go with Bluegrass.

I've tried:
Southwest
Bender
Sugartree
Bluegrass

Play with:
Howard
Sly

Bluegrass was the nutz, just not as flashy as a Bender can be.

You saying it is best, well, it's just your opinion. So, I think we all take it as your opinion. Many will say Searing, the Szamboti's, Hercek's, Gina's, Bill Schick, Scruggs, TAD and Black Boars are the best. And others might think Meucci or something is the best.

Who can really say what cue is the best for everyone?
It's great you are proud of your cue, I have a couple I am proud of when I bring it somewhere to play, but, I don't think I have one of the best cues ever. Now when I actually own a Black Boar or Szamboti like I wish for, maybe I'll hop on here and claim it's the best cue too... no, actually I won't, I'm about 20 years past the age when I use to do that.

If you want a tight joint you can try something cheaper like a Samsara, I can barely screw the shaft on sometimes, they are probably using the tight fit radial pin tap.

You should be proud though, Benders are awesome cues, I'm not so sure if it's the best of the best though.

If Bender doesn't make the BEST CUE IN THE WORLD, he makes ONE OF THE BEST CUES IN THE WORLD. I've owned three and would buy another one if I didn't have this one:

Those are fair words. That leaves a handful of others that can be one of the best in the world.

That cue you have is bad ass. Wasn't sure if you put a little red for the USMC would ruin the look. But the You are Not Forgotten items are always just black and white.

Thanks,
Since the cue was designed to honor all of our military people, especially the POW's and MIA's, I reserved the USMC lettering for the pool cue joint protectors.

I also did not include any Vietnam era signage on the cue because the cue is not about my service but to honor the service of all U.S. Military personnel, past, present and future.

The silver rings on every Schon that I have ever seen lined up perfect. :killingme:

Benders are excellent, the joints are very tight, and as you can see I have 2. Whether or not they're the best is very subjective. I have a couple of other cues that I would compare the joint to all day long. Schuler and Lambros have super joints.
I'm sure everyone likes what they have or they would change cues. IMHO

I have asked one of the members of the cue makers hall of fame about Mike Benders cue making ability and I was informed that Mike Bender has reached the tear of one of the best cue makers in the world. That was coming from someone that was all ready voted into the hall of fame of cue makers. I also was talking cues with another AZ er and he was talking to one of the hall of fame cue makers and he asked him if he was to have a cue built by someone other than himself who would it be his reply; Mike Bender. I have also talked to some highly regarded cue makers on the phone about having a cue built and when they found out I was in Alaska they asked why I didnt have Mike build me a cue. Mike may not be the best cue maker out there but he is in the top tear.

I managed to put my hands on a Fanelli Sneaky....swear the longer I play with it..the tighter the joint got.....after 5-6 hours I needed help to unscrew it...

but alas...its too short for me and so it sits in the case...
