Best 8 ball rack

Is there a difference in ball racks, I seen some from a few dollars to over a hundred dollars. Which one is the best.
Conventional triangle style? If so get a Delta Select. Yeah, they're kinda noisy but they rack great. Either buy the leather inserts or make your own to quiet the "ring".

While the Delta racks are great, imo there is no need to spend $50-$100 for a rack. You can purchase a quality wood triangle for under $20, or the magic rack/accurack templates for the same or less. jmo

I don't think there is anything better than using a good wood rack and lightly tapping in your balls for a tight rack every time. I have not used Magic Rack. It looks interesting and it is certainly affordable. I don't like the idea of having a material under the balls and dealing with it after the break. There $0.02 for you.

Since you're asking about the *best*, that would without question be the Delta 13. It is noticeably superior to other triangle racks. The magic rack is another option that racks extremely well, as well as anything, for cheap money. Although it is not a triangle rack.

The thing that makes the Delta 13 superior to a wooden rack is that it will be the same for years. Not so much with a wooden rack. They collect dirt more easily, chip, are usually not as precise to begin with, and are susceptible to weather conditions that can cause wood to swell or twist or whatever. I have a Brunswick wooden rack that is quite nice, but the Delta 13 is noticeably better.

Hope this helps,

If money is no issue, Delta 13 for sure. It is undoubtedly the best rack I've ever used, and when you play for hours, racking gets tiring so the few seconds the Delta saves every rack really makes a difference IMHO.

Delta 13 is a great rack. A good wood rack is nice too but if it's going to see heavy use they do wear over time. The two places I play have Diamond wood racks. The new ones are great but some are really worn and splintering and those just don't rack as good and they leave tiny bits of wood on the table sometimes. Friend has a Delta 13 and it's a joy to rack with. A little loud and kidna pricey, but it really seems to rack well and should last longer than a wood one.

I have a Delta Select, and put pieces of an old belt into the slots to quiet it. Really nice rack. The noise isn't that bad, but I figured I could make use of the old belt.

Without a doubt the Delta Elite rack tops all others. Teams in our league buy a package which include rack, case, and custom leather inserts. The rack can have custom engraving on the edges as well. The case holds the rack and a set of balls (balls not included in package). The price is high (~$200 for the whole package) but the rack is indestructible and will never stick like all wood racks do when balls are dirty or humidity is high.

I think this topic just came up last week.

I believe, as did the majority of people in the other thread, that the Delta 13 is by far the best triangle rack out there.

If you're looking for a template rack, the Magic Rack is ok for 8 ball. I hear the AccuRack is better.

I came across one at the Super Billiards Expo called the "Laser Rack". It is laminated wood, and cut with a laser. It was about 20 bucks and actually works quite well. Best for home use, as it doesn't seem built to withstand the rigors of a commercial situation. But nice rack for the money.
