Best Advice Ever For Straight-In Shots?

That there is no such thing. Stop thinking of it as straight in, and think of it as a very slight cut shot that is the same as all the rest.

When you give a certain type of shot (straight in) that added nervous attention, it becomes a problem shot.

Edit: Not trying to sound preachy. That is just the best advice that I was given.

First, Take the shot as serious as you would a more difficult shot, this is missable, just like a tough cut. You say straight in, but to me, this is not a straight in shot, the long rail tit is making it less than a full pocket , and many people I have watched , and taught, are subconciously aiming for the middle of the pocket . If you are one of the many I have seen , you will hit the tit , every time.
Jimmy Rempe at the height of his career, missed a shot like this , only much closer, into the side pocket. It was for 25 grand.

The only difference between a straight in shot and a cut shot is that it eliminates most of the excuses people have for missing other shots (poor aim, cut-induced throw, etc). If you’re missing the shot shown its entirely related to something else (alignment, stroke, timing, tip accuracy) that impacts every other issue you have at the pool table but don’t realize.

The best advice has been given a few times already. Ignore the object ball if it is really straight in. Pick out the spot it will hit in the pocket and aim at that. KISS, don't overthink things. Slow, fast, or in between, the object ball will just disappear when you shoot if you focus on what is behind it.

Stay on the centerline of the cue ball, focus on the spot behind the object ball, it will fall.
