Best bang for the buck

shurtz cue's from Bob
cocker cue's
would get my vote, i dont have one yet, customs on the way, but ive read and talked so much about it with other people who owned some and they love it. they usually go for 400-600$ range.

The best bang for your buck (not including used cues)

In my opinion right now, its the RAT. I just bought one and had a sniper tip put on it before they shipped it. AWESOME!! Looks great and feels great.
You are underserving yourself not to check them out.

Jensen, and Layani. Both great solid hitting cues and under priced. Mike Johnson (Jensen) has been making cues longer than most of us have been playing and Layani is no rookie either. If you can pick up one on resale it is even better. There have been some good deals on both on Ebay and this forum.

??????????????

Weston? Gilbert? Jensen? Are you guys just talking sneaky
petes? I haven't seen these cues for under $700. Every
decent Weston or Gilbert I've seen has been in the $1000-
$1700 range.

Wow lots of excellent cuemakers mentioned already. In the $600 price range, from personal experience and highly respected opinions on AZB:

Andy Gilbert
JW Petree
Jack Madden
Pat Diveney
Schon thru Erik Lee online
Bob Frey thru cuesnthings
Dale Perry thru ebay

Would attempt to test play any cue maker as much as possible before making a decision. Most cuemakers homesites are easily avail with a google search. Have fun looking for your favorite!

Now I realize that the forum members here are the shy types who have problems voicing their opinions  but with all the cue makers out there I am wondering if there is any concensus on which cue maker provides the "best bang for the buck" on the lower end (under $700) custom cues? Not really speaking of simply SPs..just a helluva cue for a helluva price ; in other words, a very under-valued cue.

I've always said (and this is my personal opinion), you can buy a Predator Sneaky pete with a wrap and steel joint for under $400 and you will never NEED anything else to play with. I think they play great!! I know plenty of great players who use these or other sneaky petes as their main cues.

Morris

I think Ned Morris is likely the most underrated cuemaker. All his cues hit fantastic, his workmanship is great, and you can get a cue for <$700. Westerncue.com has some in stock:

I have yet to see a weston hit 1700. There is a Brand new Blackcreek on onthehill.net for 850. Leather wrap and 4 point 4 veneer cue. Brand new. I personally never mentioned gilbert but his cue is a lot of bang for the busck as well. Jensen I also believe to be true. That one jensen that keeps floating around here is sold for around 600 every time. awesome looking fiddleback cue. Jensen's sell for incredibly cheap here and on ebay.
