Best chicken wing shooters?

try it before knocking it.
things and recommendations always change. Like open bridge has become more popular these days. Even the post here on Hoppe instructional.
Bottom line you have to find what works for you and not what some instructor say, experiment.
For me, gripping like that makes my stroke straighter and I'm more accurate on those long shots on a 9ft with tight pockets. My power draw also works better.
if it works for you great
but
not sure you will see many pros like that OR instructors recommending that

I think I have mentioned this before, but there is a video of Willie Hoppe giving instructional advice and he’s advocating a side arm hold and that the stroke should come from the shoulder, not the elbow. It seems crazy (given modern mechanics) but he seemed to be able to play a bit.
And according to a couple of sources, when Willie Hoppe was about eight and making money for the family, his father would beat him when he missed. Few people today have motivation like that.

I think you want to just work on bringing your stick straight through, regardless of the angle of your arm.
That's what I'm hoping to learn from watching some great players. I've been trying to straighten her out, but it's difficult to see exactly what's going wrong while down on a shot. I'm hoping that a third person perspective will give me some ideas to try out.

As long as the cue moves in a straight line, everything else doesn't matter.
if you have problems doing that, just loosen your grip a bit and everything else will most likely fall into place.
How loose?
Just let the cue sit on your fingers without touching the palm, something like that:

This doesn't work for me because I grab at the cue and the tip positron is all over the place.

Thanks I'll check him out
Here he is, I think...

Agree, got no clue wtf he's talking about. A good stroke is one that you own and repeats under the gun. How it looks doesn't mean shit.
A chicken wing is shooting with your elbow outside of the shot line. Working towards a repeatable stroke is the whole purpose of this post. The reason I mentioned how it looks is because I'm trying to get ideas from great players who have a similar stroke. If you don't know wtf I'm talking about its more of a comprehension issue.

One of the two young Filipino's has a very produced one. I forget if it's Starboy or the other one. They were both about 16 years old and played in a couple of the MR events last year or this year.

AJ Manas actually has a reverse chicken wing.

Seems like a lot of sharp shooters have that (such as Seo Seoa in women's pool), but very few have an actual, outward flaring chicken wing. I speculate it's because the latter inherently leads to a pronated wrist, while even Billy Thorpe with his ridiculous reverse chicken wing is able to keep a nice wrist alignment.
