Best Colorado pool halls?

I may be visiting a friend in Colorado in the near future.

What are the best pool halls in Colorado?
 
Felt billiards in Englewood is good
As is Mile High Billiards in Arvada
And Hanks just redid their tables

That's about it, in that order, except Greenfield's is a nice place with a bunch of
Diamond bar box tables, and Todd is a good owner.
 
I was in Denver on business last week, and had a late afternoon / early evening. Went to Felts. Tables were in very good shape - nine footers include choice of Blue Label Diamonds and Gold a Crowns; $5 and $4 per hour respectively. The balls seemed clean and matched.

I practiced alone on a Diamond for a couple hours, enjoyed a couple adult beverages and some food. Nice time.
 
If you come to Colorado Springs the only place with several big table and many bar tables is Antiques Billiards. 40+ Diamond bar table, 6 9ft Diamonds, golf, 2 Carom and several antique 8ft table plus tons of pictures and posters throughout the room of past champions.

Several other bars in town but none have more than 6 bar tables

What happened to a Bit of Billiards just outside of Denver might a been Longmont?
 
Eye opening really, its been a long time since I was in Denver but you had 'The Billiard Institue' 'Shakesperes' 'Table Steaks' it seems like they are no longer around.
 
Bit of Billiards in Longmont closed their doors last year. Nobody mentioned Wynkoop Brewery in downtown Denver. Free pool on Diamond tables every weekday afternoon. Pretty good food too. Antique Billiards in the Springs is a nice room, and Karl Koffee still owns a room on Main St. in Pueblo. I think Greenfields is in Arvada or Englewood. Edited from Jgar: Greenfields is indeed in Lakewood!

Felt- 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Diamonds $2.50 per hour
Gold Crowns $2.00 per hour
And you can get a huge gut busting breakfast special for $3.99.
Hanks-10 AM to 4 PM Gold Crowns(new cloth-dirty balls)) $7.00 flat
 
Really kind of depends on where you are going to be. If you're in Denver and you'd go anywhere you should probably head over to Felt (South Denver, Englewood). If you'd enjoy a microbrew (or two) while you play maybe head to the Wyncoop (Downtown), but not on a weekend night For a real and classic pool hall try Hanks (Wheat Ridge, Northwest Central Denver) and if you're in Aurora or East Denver head over to Rack 'em.
As far as Mile High (Northwest Denver Suburb), I know some some people really like that place, I have found some really mixed opinions, I know some that like it, and some that flat refuse to go back. The equipment is good, so if your objective is just to play or practice and not to eat or drink anything you'll be fine, the food situation sucks and the beverages, even the non alcohol ones are a bit over priced, and it's been my experience (several times) that the bartenders and server are great to look at but are lacking substance. In a place where you'll dealing with poolplayers I suppose looks and tight pants go a long way. So if you wind up at Mile High just make sure you eat and drink first, but personally I'd avoid it.
 
Celophanewrap...I spent 4 days teaching at Mile High last August, and I thought the place was great. The owner was very friendly, and even let me and one of my students in before they opened, so that we could spend some time alone. I also played in there for several hours, on each of 3 days, so I experienced the bartenders and servers, and didn't think anything was poor service or out of place. I guess I just wanted to say that I had a completely different experience at Mile High. I also played and taught at Wynkoop, Felt and Greenfields...all nice places! :grin:

Hi Scott, I recall the time you spent there, if I'm not mistaken it was not long after the room had open and I agree, the owner is a nice guy. If you lived here and weren't Scott Lee I think you'd find that, sadly, some things have changed since it opened. Quite honestly, if I owned a room and I knew you were coming to play or teach, I'd likely bend over backwards to show you the best place I could and to make sure you left with a high opinion of my place. My opinion is just that, and since Mile High has opened I know many people who's opinions have done a 180 since then, but I also know some that really like it as well. So like I said, I know some that like it and some that flat refuse to return even to play league, personally, I'd avoid it

If you find yourself north of Denver, Fort Collins has Match Up's w/8 9' GCs and 9 or 10 valley bar boxes.

I personally go to Mile High the most for practice, and when I feel I've been hitting them good lately I'll go down to Felt for their big table tournaments. As far as I know, Mile High doesn't have any big table tournaments anymore, and that place is primarily known for the boxes (action too). I would have to say that in my opinion, the 9 footers are a little too tight. I know, some say "work on your accuracy" but I disagree. I don't know where the line gets drawn, but there is such thing as being "too tight."
The service there has always been great I think. I hung out there when they first opened, and shortly after spent 8 months out of town with work. After returning from being gone so long, all the wait staff still knew me by name and are always making their rounds.
Additionally, now that I know Hanks has new felt, I'll probably be spending a little more time there too. I like the way his Gold Crowns play when there's good cloth on them.
