Waaayyyyyyy back, in the day, when I began getting serious about pool, the cue ball I used, every day, for YEARS was a blue dot ( "dot" being a misnomer, actually, as it wasn't a "dot", but a "circle" ). Over the years, for whatever reason, they went the way of the Dodo bird, the Tasmanian Devil and the dial telephone. At any rate, if they exist at all anymore, they seem to be very, very rare. Our room has none left and hasn't had for years. I played better with that cue ball than anything since. Maybe just my imagination, but I don't think so. Anyone else share my affinity for this cue ball?"

UPS just sent me an email notice: My brand new Brunswick Centennial Blue Circle cue ball ( I verified by phone with Brunswick 3 days ago, it's a Blue Circle! ) will be delivered tomorrow by 1PM!!!

Awwwwww yeahhhhh!

Now watch... I'll get it, tote it down to the room, get on the table with it... and won't be able to make a ball!

That's not the worst of it. Do you play on a Gold Crown? Inspect the pockets to make sure the hex screw on each is screwed in deeply. Even so, leaves a pretty sharp hole.

The ball tray? May as well be compared with the labyrinth. On the left and right inner edges, sharper points on the attachments than you will find inside a food blender or garbage disposal. Most of the time, the balls don't into contact, but sometimes they do.

Bring us up to date when a couple balls show a few dings that you can't figure out how they happened. That will be a thread in itself. Fair warning.

On the other hand, if you play on a drop pocket table, you're probably fine.

All the best,
WW

GCs and only GCs. Great point, however the pockets on the three GCs that I only ever play on are fine. And tight pockets, as well.

I need to play with bucket pockets, though!

We glue leftover new pieces of felt/cloth on to the ball trays, top and bottom, to cushion them. They do eventually get dirty and have to be replaced, but I think it helps the wear and tear on the balls.

I don't blame you. All rooms should do that, but they don't.

It's nowhere near as white as I thought it would be. But it is brand new. Also, the circle looks black to me though the woman of the house tells me it's blue and I didn't tell her it was a Blue Circle, I simply asked her what color the circle was.

You hear Laurel, she hears Yanny... OH!

The newer blue circles seem to be a darker blue than the old ones.

Congrats, man:thumbup:

When cue balls sit in the dark, they tend to darken..makes the blue circle darker also.

I had an un-used set of snooker balls a while back...I gave them to a Legion..
...it had TWO green balls......’cause when the blue ball yellows from disuse...
....it turns green.....after a while, the blue ball became blue.

I always look for the yellowist cue ball in a room to get into action with....
..it’s tends to be the closest to regulation....
...the whitest cue balls are the most used....and probably too light.

Thanks, Runner! It plays great but a bit different than the Super Aramith Pro Cue Ball the room's been using for a good while now. Also, and I thought this was odd, the Blue Circle is noticeably larger then the Super Aramith Pro. But, and this is even more odd, the Blue circle is exactly the same size as the object balls ( which I believe are all Centennials ). So the Super Aramith Pro is smaller than the object balls in all 6 trays reserved for the 6 GCs.

It was strange hitting balls with the Blue Circle at first but within 10 mins or so it felt perfectly natural. It doesn't draw quite as well as the Super Pro due to the size difference but it's marginal at best.

All in all I'm very satisfied with it and it's what I'll be using for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, it was weird when we measured the two sitting side by side. The Super Pro is snow white and while the Blue Circle is... not... yellow, it's definitely "off white".

Yep, the new cue ball will be bigger...but it will lighten with use, color and weight.

The object balls....the one ball tends to get smaller first in rooms where nine ball is popular...
...balls one to nine age quicker than balls ten to fifteen....
...worth keeping in mind when making prop bets.
