I'll be in the market for a new cue in 3-4 weeks. I'll be looking for a custom cue (read: not a production cue) with a 3/8 pin. I've owned several customs in the past and like the way the big pins play.
I'm not too picky when it comes to what I'm looking for, but I'll know it when I see it. The cue could be anything from a Merry Widow style, to a cue with points and inlays but if it has a wrap, it would need to be leather.

What are your recommendations? post pics if you can

Thanks for helping me decide

a guy that posts here by the name aphelps1 has made a few cues for under $500. Here's an example of his work....

I've got a Tiger cue (made by Jacoby, custom cuemaker) for sale that's under $500 delivered: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=171054&highlight=tpc3

It's a great hitting cue and in 99% shape, it's only been played with for like an hour and doesn't have any dings or dents. Please let me know if you have any questions and wish you luck on finding a cue you like, $500 is a decent amount so I'm sure you'll have plenty of choices.

Check with Lee of LP Custom Cues on here. He makes some very good looking cues for about what you are wanting to spend, and some for even less.

It will be very hard to find a true custom cue for $500.00US. Good luck with your search.

I don't think so. The cue market has been effected by the economy as much as any other market and the "For Sale" ads found on this site are a reflection of that. I'm not limiting myself to NEW custom cues, just custom cues. One should be able to get a lot of cue for $500 in today's market

Hmmm, I guess the Tiger cue is a hybrid then. It's made by a custom cuemaker but a standard model, I've never seen a Jacoby cue with a Stack leather wrap so that makes it sort of custom. Guess you want a one of a kind cue with a signature, sorry I couldn't help you out.

OK hivoltg, what do YOU mean by a custom cue? I bought an Ariel Carmeli Fancy SP for $450. No inlays, no wrap, no nothing. Plays absolutely great! My "production" Schon one of a kind plays every bit as well. Hits differently though. What do you really want? Something no one else has? A different balance point? A longer cue? What is custom to you?

check out the jacoby website. lots of good stuff there. You can also use the cuebuilder option.

Check with Son of Thunder here on AZ he is S+S cues out of Lubbock TX area. Make fancy cues and plain SP he cuts his own full splices. I know he can deliver real nice solid hitting cue for $500 or less.

Besides that he is real nice guy, BTW - he donates a cue to each stop on the Fast Eddies tour for a raffle to add in to thier prize fund.

Contact info is Paul at 806-778-1957.

Not looking to design anything. I want something handmade, something that didn't come off of an assembly line, something that one man put his time into to make.

I have this Leon Sly Cocobolo wrapless with a Hoppe ring. Brass radial pin with Leon's new Hybrid joint (elforyn over stainless).

Cue weighs about 19.3oz with a 19" balance point. Has two shafts, 1 at 13mm and 1 at 12.5mm. Yellow micarta ferrules, one shaft has Kamui Black and the other has a pressed Triangle. ***Second shaft not pictured as Leon fit it to the cue after taking these photos.

I would sell for $275 O.B.O

THAT IS AWESOME! Maybe it'll still be around in a few weeks:eek:
