Best Custom Cuemakers?

I discovered how talented Bob Owen is back in 2013/14 after ordering my first cue. And more importantly,
also learned he was a man I’d be pleased and proud to call a friend because he has standards and values.

Now it’s easy to try measuring people by their statements and the words/language they use both spoken or
written. Did you know that I can still dunk a basketball on a 10’ backboard? I can shout that aloud every day
I’m still above ground & it’s neither true nor not true until proven I can’t. I can run 100 balls on a 10’ with 4”
pockets until someone makes me prove I can’t. Of course the aforementioned are absurd examples of what
I’m saying. But if you only measure people by what they say, relying on that isn’t nearly as good as measuring
people by their actions. And I’m telling you the last two cue makers I used are very good cue makers and you
can still get cues made by one of them. Before you order a cue to be made, you should contact Bob Owen.

Bob now has a wait list and it’s growing. Well, Southwest has a wait list a lot longer and so does Joel Hercek &
Ed Prewitt. Eddie Cohen has one too. Talented cue makers are always in demand. Bob can offer you creative
advice when you’re uncertain about the final design & will build your cue to your specifications. I sent Bob a
design that was outlined with minutia specs. He got each and every detail perfect, even though I screwed up
the stain and veneers. But it’s my Frankenstein & bottomline it plays better than my Scruggs & Prewitt cues do.

Bob is always available to speak with you. He returns phone calls if you had to leave a message. He confirms
your order in writing & starts providing construction updates when your cue is started. Bob sends photos of the cue’s progress. When he tells you your cue will be completed, he delivers on time. When the cue arrives, rest assured the workmanship will be faultless. IMO, ordering cues from Bob & Jerry Rauenzahn was the smartest thing I’ve done.

Remember you get what you pay for, reputation is very important and sure, the wait sucks but your cue is for lifetime.
Jerry retired and boy, he made great pool cues. Bob is active & becoming busier. The wait is genuinely worth indulging.

Howdy All;

I was very happy with the results when I placed an order with Wes Hunter of
Hunter Custom Cues. I live a few hours drive away so called to be sure he was
expecting me and drove over. I took a few of my favorite shooters with me so
he could take any measurements. He showed me some wood blocks for forearm
and butt section and I made some choices. also discussed ferrule and joint materials.
He asked for a down payment and I gave it to him. This was the beginning of Dec. 2019.
About April, 2020 I received a text with some photos of the soon to be finished cue.
He called to ask what color(s) I wanted the wrap to be. Told him to pick one that fit as I
am not one to decied that kind of thing. I have it on resounding loud verbal opinions from
all 3 women that I've been married to. chucklin'. Mid May it was ready.
I am a very happy customer. Here's a link;

I had a very good buying experience when I ordered my Andy Gilbert cue way back in 2005. Delivery time took 9 months because it was an 8-pointer loaded with scrimmed ivory inlays. Unfortunately I do not know his work queue's current wait time.

I ordered a cue to be made by Mr. Garten Bierbower in September of 2021. Unfortunately Mr. Bierbower became ill so the cue is kind of in limbo. Not sure if he is back on his feet . Haven't spoken to him in a while. Anybody else have cues by Mr. Bierbower ? It's my first custom cue. I am hoping it will be finished.
