Best custom joint protectors


Jim Baxter caps for one of my Gus Szamboti cues
I sent a shaft that Barry made for the cue so Jim could match the veneers and he lined up the ringwork and the butt cap lines up perfect with the cue!
I have many cues with Alton's caps as well as Jim's and as you can see Jim's quality is good enough for any cue as well as Alton they are both gifted and great to work with!

Here is 3 sets Alton (cue caps) made! He is a great guy for sure!

In my humble opinion, The two best makers of joint protectors are Jim Baxter and Alton cue caps. I only have Alton cue caps and I know they are very good. Alton caps will cost the most. When comparing the two, I notice that Alton can provide more variety and more designs than Baxter. A less expensive good quality alternative is (Steve) Kornele joint protectors.It all really depends on what your needs are.
 
Joint Caps

I have several of Jim Baxter's sets and they are exceptional.
I also have gotten about a dozen sets from Lonnie, most recently a five piece set with two extra sets of ring work for a Richard Black with railroad rings Red, black and maple.
Lonnie did an excellent job. I have always been very happy with Lonnie's work and in my opinion is the best value for the money and very quick turn around time.

From the comments here, I guess you have your answer as to the Best. I'll have to try Alton's.

My Jim Baxter jp's are in my avatar. He's great to work with. Alton's are great looking also, but I see his jp's on more collector cues. I think if I dropped one of Alton's caps putting my cue together, I would cry.
