What do you think is the most enjoyable pool game to watch? What do you think the reasons are? And is it largely because it is your favorite game to play? Do you have a different answer for watching a game live versus watching on t.v. or video?

Call-shot(no call safe) 10ball. Love to play one-hole but can't watch much of it unless its the top players goin at it or the bet's really up there. Also, ANYTIME O'sullivan is playing snooker i'm watching.

SNOOKER

Reasons are many - pocketing skills of the players; myriad ways to clear a table and create high breaks; strategic safety play.

Same can be said for 14.1, so they tie in my book

Yes, they are both extremely challenging and fun to play

Best to watch live: Snooker

Best to watch on DVD: 14.1

I prefer to watch rotation games because you know which ball they need to get on next. The greater predictability makes it easier to watch. Watching someone think about which ball to hit next is not fun.

Watch Live
9B, 10B

Watch Live (if a lot of free time)
Snooker, C8B, 9B, 10B

Watch recorded video
9B,10B,Snooker, C8B

Play
8B bar table

Watching and playing are 2 different activities. If watchers/spectators only watch what they play, soccer/tennis will have peanuts audience and will not be popular spectator sports.
I like 9B, 10B (NOT race to 1000 matches) because it is fast and straightforward. 8B is too easy for the pros and is a bore. I like watching C8B though but it is slow.
:D

any game is fun to watch live as long as the players are evenly matched or the spot is correct and they are gambling high enough so that it hurts both players if they lose. of course you need at least one railbird to watch the game with so ya'll can @iss and moan and gamble with each other without interjecting yourself in the game. orherwise i would rather put on the show than watch it.

One Pocket

I enjoy watching 1 pocket. I gather a lot of good information about safeties that i can transfer over to many other games. Watching players get shape in tight quarters is also very interesting to watch.

I have to clarify it has to be decent players and not just any banger out there and the game has to have a steady pace. I wont watch a 2 hour safety battle in any game.

Short rack bank pool! The shots are BAM BAM BAM! Exciting! Warp speed! Crazy shots! It gives all other games the 5 in spectator excitement, IMO:grin-square::grin-square:

I don't think there is anything more exciting in pool than the finals of the DCC banks.

Best game to watch is a payball ring game on a snooker table involving top players. The late Denny Searcy was the all time best at it.

Then the Derby City BigFoot Challenge 10 ball. Great game from a spectator's POV.

Then 9 ball, which requires the best power stroke along with pattern recognition and some of the best aspects of snooker.

Then one pocket. Chess on a pool table. Can't play it but I admire the hell out of those who play it well.

Then snooker. There used to be snooker tables in nearly every room in the South and in the big cities of the North, and I'd love to see them brought back to replace the bar tables.

Then 9 ball banks.

But never straight pool or 8 ball. My only complaint about my Accu-Stats subscription is that those two games are way overrepresented at the expense of vintage 9 ball matches.

Hard to beat watching a really good snooker match involving a player like Ronnie O'Sullivan or Stephen Lee, and I have never even played snooker on a 6x12.

to watch (I'm a youtube addict) 9 ball & 10 ball

To play..8 ball because I like the various pattern choices.

Live....the best action game with the most money being bet.
...the posing gets forgotten....you see real heart...and real dog.

At the Rack in Detroit....Baldy the Collector got into a woof-fest with Roy the Bookie....
....they were both terrible players.
Baldy agreed to play one game of one pocket on a 5x10 snooker table...for $100.
...Roy opened the line on the side....bet $30,000.
Cornbread saw me betting...asked..”Who do you like?...neither one can hit the end rail.”
...I said “I’m betting on Baldy, he wants to win the hundred more than Roy wants to win
the thirty Gs.”
It took almost two hours...Baldy won....no other table was played on in that time....
...place was loaded with champions.

Exhibitions get boring.

On TV or stream....I like one pocket, 3-cushion, snooker, and straight pool.

Most enjoyable pool I have every watched on a stream. Was a ring game with very good players. No safes pure offense. Banks, kicks you name it. These guys made great shoots with great position.

snooker, and then 14.1.

a distant 3rd: 8 ball at high levels on a 9-foot.

rotation only for Mosconi Cup, for the spectacle and tension. the rest of the time it is mind-numbingly dull.

What is a ring game? What does no safes mean, how can you 'disallow' a safe? Curious about this game.
