The series is pretty expensive, so I recommend finding a buddy or two to split it with and share.

I just watched it over the holidays and it was great!!! I learned a great deal.

Do they have this on DVD now? I've only seen it for sale on VHS. I'd love to own a copy of this match one day, but I'm trying really hard to avoid accumalating any more cassettes. ;) Looking forward to whenever Accu-Stats makes their "classic" videos available on DVD.

neither!! The best instructional is anything made by joe tucker. If your not lazy enough to practice his workout and study the rack you will become a much more solid player

None of the above

Jerry Brieseths Video, "How to Play Pool Right" is jam up. Fundamentals is where it is at..

I have to agree with your list.
One of the other DVD's out there is the Billiard Sanctuary DVD's by Tim White and I enjoyed the set.

Of the ones in your poll, I would rank the Byrnes, Kinister and Reid a close third. Have not seen any Monk videos, EXCEPT the Kicking and Banking videos by tom Rossman (Dr Cue) and put out under Monk's name are very good.

I think it depends on what you are looking for as to which is the best. I have seen a couple of Grady's videos also and they a very good.

There is some great stuff in Kinister's videos also if you can get past the BS.

Let me start by saying that Earl Strickland is my all time favorite pro player. I know he's hot headed but I really respect his passion for the game. I met him once at the Lexington All Stars and he was probably one of the nicest people that I've ever met. He was waiting to go into his match and he sat there talking to me and my wife for about a half hour about all kinds of things. He really is cool.

Anyway, I watched that match between him and Efren and the biggest thing I learned from that was the mental aspect of the game. In my humble opinion Earl is the better 9-ball player. I think Efren is a much better all around player when it comes down to being able to be the top player in various games. Efren truly is great. But 9-ball, Earl is the man. With that said, Earl lost that match because of his temper or his lack of concentration. After day 2 he had such a large lead over Efren he should have walked away the victor. I don't know what happened between day 2 and day 3 but he surely wasn't in the game on day 3 the way he was on day 2. Final score, if I remember correctly, Reyes 120 Strickland 117. There is no way to tell who the better player is from that score. Day 2 was fantastic though. Earl had run outs in 9 out of 16 games. Amazing. He was so into it on day 2 that I thought it was over. It really was sad watching day 3. But you can really see a difference in his playing between the 2 days. It's incredible. Efren was cool and collected the whole time. I've been around Efren twice here in Japan. I translated for him once when he was doing an exhibition at a place in my city. Really really nice guy. Very humble and down to earth. Amazing cueball control and shotmaking ability. Much more impressive than watching him on TV.

Oh, I recommend the Byrne's series for beginners:)

Make that 2 votes for Joe Tucker!

3 Votes for Joe Tucker!

Actually, what I really like are his books, but the videos helped me understand the books better.

I don't much care for Bert's videos. I don't much care for watching some guy do the same drill over and over... I watched the Byrnes videos years ago, but I don't remember them now.

I dont get the lure of Joe's video. I need some info on it. The title racking secrets, then what? How much can you pack into a video on how to rack before it becomes repetitive? There has to be more to it than that for him to get the votes he has. I would love to see "The Color of Money - $100,000 Hong Kong Challenge". And the video that comes with the Capelle book. I have a Buddy hall video that showed some cool stuff, and Bert's 90 minutes workout for 9-ball was pretty good, but the Audio was horrible, he should redo it.

Joe Tucker has the new information out there with good drills and not the same old drills that everybody knows and nobody does because they are boring and some are too difficult and you learn nothing. Joes drills are useful and his racking secrets is info. that is a must! You won't say "then what" after you watch it. It works if you use it! His drills build a better game!!! Nuf said.
