Best Leather Cases Out there?

Now if OP changes his mind and willing to spend more, go with a Justis. He is here in America and makes a fantastic case.

Probably one of the most or the most influential dude in the industry for cases. Living legend.

Volturi comes to mind but it is expensive and the custom cases are going to look better than whatever cue housed.

Again, JB Case is good too. Can customize any case for you. Shipping is high because of it being overseas. They have a nutty owner but he is passionate about protecting cues.

Hey Jimbo. Nice to see you here. Someone told me that you were back on AZB. Welcome back.

Anyway for cases made in the USA which are priced lower than Justis I would also recommend Dennis Swift and Chuck Fields. Both of whom build very solid cases that I would personally stand behind any day for better protection.

I love my Instroke but I wish the shoulder strap was located along the back of the case rather than along the edge. I've seen some no name $50 cases that have the shoulder strap along the back and it seems to lay against your back better when it's over your shoulder.

I think it is goofy to have it like a backpack unless you commute by foot. You are not suppose to be carrying your case for that long. If you leave then walk out with it. If you chit chat on your way out, put the case down.

One should not be traveling with expensive equipment to the point that they have to carry it like a back pack.

Thanks John!
With my new interiors, Im offering the most protective cue case on this side of the pond. My leatherwork is pretty good too......

Clearly you have never been to a national league tournament or the derby where you walk your a## off daily...but since you think it's goofy it must be.

i agree with this and been to those events. I switched to backpack straps to enjoy the events better.

What are your protecting

I understand a case such as JB and others listed are high quality, and can probably last a lifetime. Most people seem to upgrade through the years. With that in mind how much to you have invested in your cue?

If I had a very expensive cue I might make a different decision than if I had a cheap one.

What do I have? A soft sided Predator that holds 4 butts and 8 shafts. My playing cue is a $2500 Josey, plus two other cues. So you can see I don't have an expensive case and mine is fine. I don't travel much, except from my house to the pool hall, and an occassional tourney out of town. My good friend and local pro, has the same level of cue with the exact same case.

Cue Cases are probably a lot like cues. Some like them fancy, and some don't.

Protection isn't about what hasn't happened. I personally would not want four pieces of metal anywhere near my cues. I can't understand the logic of putting metal inside the case where any impact or pressure can allow those metal pieces to dig into the cue parts.

My friend used to say insurance is the only product that you don't know if it's good or not until you need it. Same with protection. The day something happens that can damage your cue you will know if your case does the job or not.

Leather is nice but we offer the same level of protection as our $3500 cases for less than $100 if someone wants it.

Didn't you know? DomPoppa and most of the haters here in AZ can't even play! Yes clearly they don't compete and have never been to a 1or 2 week tournament where all you do is walk walk walk. These are also the type of player that will only play the people they know they can beat and even ask for an edge. I met an AZ'r that supposedly knew every fundamental there is yet he couldn't run 3 Balls! That's also why they have the time to come here and jump on peoples post but instead of helping they bash the ones they hate along the way. Look at the thread about a table mechanic... the biggest hater there doesn't even own a table or had a mechanic work on one yet he has the biggest opinion. These are the ones that claim to have found it.

For the OP: Best leather Cases are the ones that have been around forever. JB Cases & Joe Porper in affordability is the best and the best in the business. There are some new guys in our country Fields, Melton that is on top of their game. Everything else is ridiculous! Anything over $500 for a case is plane ridiculous. Efren Reyes uses a Mezz non leather lesser quality case that's been in over 8 countries yet his cues have never been damaged.

Hi everyone! Could I get some help with some opinions? I am thinking of buying a leather case but I don't know which brand would be best at an affordable price. I am looking to get maybe a 3x5 or 3x7 case, I heard that instroke has awesome cases, any other brands that are just as great at a cheaper price??

JB, Justis, Murnak, Castillo, Fields, Price, Swift....all good cases and on the secondary market you can find decent deals sometimes.

Personally I'll never own another heavy tube case of any kind so if you are looking for a nice case that won't break you down carrying it long distances I would try a butterfly style case. I have an old Instroke that John redid and it's great. I have also had a Castillo that was top notch as well as a Murnak, which I still have. The interiors in the JB cases are really hard to beat.

I LOve My 6 x 12 Leather Cue Case

I have four Instroke leather cases and I decided to step up to a custom 6 x 12 leather case.

Didn't want to spend a grand and didn't have to......went to Gil Castillo......he built me a Lizard version.

It's a great case, huge pockets, great strap and well balanced, and it's handsome as all heck.

Matt B.

p.s The case shipped was under $500.

p.p.s. I also forgot to take a photo of the strap which was installed on the case's spine at my request
and Gil later adopted it as a design.

They have a nutty owner

John took one for his country in a round about way! If the people here only knew they would cut him a lot of slack and understand his obsession with SECURITY and other things about him!

He may not ever speak about it again but it is up to john when ,where and with whom he tells it.

Ask john why he is "nutty" he just might tell you what happened.

I respect him and his privacy. Just don't want people thinking john is "nutty" with out knowing what happened and why!
