Where is the best place to live for pool. I really don't mean for pro or short stop level players, just your little above average player who like small time gambling and tournaments.

Bangkok, Thailand

My favorite place is Bangkok. There are plenty of nice rooms, good players, weekly tournaments, and cheap action.

The girls are nice too.

As great as that sounds I don't think my job would transfer me there. I wish though:thumbup:

Definitely Phoenix. There are about 60-70 weekly tournaments around for all skill levels. Monthly tournaments every month. And you can get some action at about 5 or so different pool halls on any given day. From $.25 a game (CocoCowboy) to $$$.

Plus the women are not too bad in that part of the country either. I suggest stretching your neck before arriving.

a (well responded to) thread on this very subject was done in the last weeks. Use the search function and you'll get a lot of info.

pheonix

I spent 2 weeks there for work and got kicked out of a tournament I went to before I ever even hit a ball. The tournament was for 8's and under and someone claimed he saw me win a big tournament in CA. Hell I've never even been to CA:mad:

I love living in the Clearwater Area. We actually have a pool hall every other mile it seems like. There are a lot of good shooters around, lots of tournaments and lots of money games. Also lots of different leagues to play.

What is your name? You can PM it to me if you like. I have the entire AZ Ratings Database on my computer and can tell you if you have been rated in the state.

Also, I have listed a bunch of the larger tournaments on azpoolscene.com. I'm working to add a section for local tournaments, but that will be a little while yet as that could become a maintenance nightmare to keep up.

Jerry,

Just out of curiousity, how did you get those ratings? Was it off of Roger's website or are you a member of the rating's commitee? Roger's list of ratings is incomplete and has some inaccuracies from what I can see. Like I said, just curious... no hard feelings if you don't share.

As for the topic of the thread... Phoenix metro area for sure. A lot of weekly tournaments for B and C players. You will be spoiled for choice. Once you get to A and above, it slims out though. But there are excellent monthly non-handicapped tourneys that solve that issue.

Phoenix, 100%

I miss Main St. Billiards in Mesa, fun spot.

When did you live here? I am just wondering if I know you from Main Street. I spent many of my formative pool years there. Been playing there since 1999 and I remember just about everybody that came and played there on a consistent basis.

Do you know Jesse R.? BTW, my name is Ray Robles. You can PM me if you'd like.

a filipino freind of mine said the only way to stay legally over 6 months is to marry a local. I ran that by my wife and lets just say shes not cool with the idea. . god forbid she ever leaves me, but if she does. The phillipines might be realistic.:D

I'm the administrator for the Committee. I do all the updates and manage the lists to be printed off and distributed every quarter.

In Los Angeles CA you would have access to a huge number of pool players made up of every talent level known to man. The variety of pool rooms in the area is staggering. There are plenty of leagues, action hounds and tournaments out here. You could run into Efren Reyes at House of Billiards or Jessica Alba at Hollywood Billiards. Hardcore pool players will tell ya, "You guys can go to Heaven, I'll stay here!"

Seems to be a lot of action in the Eastern TN area. You have instant access to VA, KY and NC.
