Best places to play in the USA

One of the best pool halls I've been to is in Mountain City, TN. It's called Corner Pocket. They have a bunch of nice 9ft Olhausen tables, some Dynamo Bar tables, and an Olhausen snooker table. They serve good food, have some nice equipment, and Gary does some great work on cues.

They have some good shooters that go there too. You shouldn't have any trouble finding action in that place.

$2.76/hour to shoot. www.corner-pocket.com if you want info or directions to the place. It's about a 2 hour drive for me to get there, but it's worth it. Gary does a great job cleaning shafts. He has some kind of shaft treatment that will make your shaft slick as can be and it stays that way for a long time.

Howdy Tom,
Thank u for your kind words.I might reluctantly add Hard Time Billiards in Los angeles to the list. This is a very good place to hang around or for action.I was little prejudicial/Biased to this place .It is because the snooker Table has weird pockets. But there is lots of action on this table. The snooker table there still bothers me and hence I am relunctant to include it in my favorite places. Cheers

The Hardtimes in Bellflower has a tournament room with 10 well kept tables covered and maintained by Ernesto D. The other tables are also well kept and they are also used during tournaments.

They offer a monthly that is $65.00 so afternoon practice is affordable.

The action isn't what it used to be but you can play the house pro Dave Hemma. On the first Sunday of the month they have a $1,000.00 money added and there usually is a 10 ball ring game going on table 1.

Between tourneys you might catch Parica or Efren hanging out. They have a large screen TV to look at sporting events. Good or bad they don't serve alchohol and there's no smoking inside - California thing.

Hey LaMas
The great thing about HT in Bellflower is the bleachers where you can sit comfortably to your hearts content and just watch the great Efren or Parica running out racks of rotation.
The worse thing is that except for the BBQ joint across the street there is no good restaurants near by. Or is there?

They have a Jack in the Box on the corner but you said good. There is a new Japanese restaurant in the strip mall just south on the next block.

If you're willing to drive there's Johnny Rebs up the street and a great Italian place across from J. R.. Then there's the Lakewood Mall (SuperMex) and the Cerritos Mall and further East is little India, China and Viet Nam.

I will second that motion making High Pockets in Memphis one of the nicest poolrooms in America. I feel this place just can't be topped for sheer dramatics. Is there another poolroom in America with 40 foot vaulted ceilings, and well lit enough with natural and interior light to make it feel like a cathedral? It also sports a 5 x 10 snooker table,a billiard table and some of the sweetest Gold Crown 1's anywhere. Good food, and zero crap, unless things have changed recently. If it had more/better spectator seats, this would be an absolute perfect room. J.O.B.'s in Nashville is also quite impressive, other than the tables in their tournament room being something other than GC's or Diamonds. Either of these places would be quite suitable for taking a non-playing date,or your family. I'm not sure I can say the same about Hard Times. Tommy D.

What is the best state, city and/or pool rooms to play in?

Give your reasons such as most pool halls, best players, best leagues, most gamblers, most fish, most tour stops, most bar tournaments, best service, best, hottest waitress (attach photos), etc.

I'm sure this will be somewhat biased, but I think you get the picture.

My new favorite place to play is Herbert's in Secaucus, NJ. Good food, great tables, smoking and non-smoking areas, full bar, arcade if you need to take a break, table service and very friendly staff. 3 of us went there for the first time this past Saturday and for 3 hours of shooting and a lot of Miller Lite, it worked out to $50 a person. It's going to be my new weekend hangout.

Park Billiard on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, NJ isn't bad either. You can tell the regulars because they're shooting on the tables with the tight pockets and nothing else. Signs are posted stating NO GAMBLING, but there's always a little action going on. I'm usually there on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There are a couple good places in Austin,TX. I haven't been there for two years, but Eric's was dirt cheap ( 5 bucks to play till 6 pm), had billiards, snooker, and Gold Crowns. Full bar and a young crowd. Some excellent players play there. I think the Click's chain charges only a couple bucks for daytime hours. Some pool halls are charging over ten bucks an hour these days, so this is a steal.

In San Diego, Gaslamp Palace has a play all day for five dollars deal on Sundays. Gold Crown IV's, pretty girls, and you can see the new ballpark from upstairs. There are a ton of gorgeous ladies walking around the downtown area on weekends; you unlucky coldweather players should take a vacation to SD and check it out.
