You need to try different tips and see what you like on that cue. Other peoples opinions are just that, their opinion/preference.
I like kamui tips, but they are spendy.

What's the best scotch, beer, pizza, hamburger, etc.? You're gonna get gillion different answers to this. I'd try a medium layered tip to start and go from there. I'm currently using UltraSkins . They play great and the price(10 for 30bux) is pretty tuff to beat.

I feel Kamui is always the answer. Unless we're talking breakers, then it's Samasara.

Lots of tips and different than answers. .. everyone is different

Best tip is the tip you play best with. Not trying to give a smartAzz answer.... I have used Predator, Moori, Everest.
Currently using an Ultraskin soft...also have LePro's that play well. Play well meaning little to no miscuing. Can get good english. Experiment. start out with a soft leather tip.

It depends on what level player you are.................

There are some players that I would give an Elk Master tip and some I would give a G2 hard tip...................

so........ who are you???

Coming from non-layered tips, the only tip I've really like is an UltraSkin hard. I had a 5 layer Morri that I didn't HATE enough to chop off the shaft, though I can't say I prefer it. I've tried a bunch more layered tips and none have lasted more than a day. I really liked the UltraSkin hard. Played an awful lot like a good, broken in Triangle. I'm going to try a medium next, just to see the difference, but I thought the Hard was about as close to a hard, non-layered tip as I'd felt so far. Not perfect, but good enough that all the advantages vastly outweigh the little difference in feel.

Anyhow, all of the Ultraskins are cheap enough that it's no big deal to try one and chop it off if you don't like it, unlike a lot of other tips that feel more like an investment. :)

Used an Everest for a long time, then tried a Green Emerald pr something like that. I really like that one.

Just put a G2 on last week and impressed with that one too. Only use that shaft on 7 and 8 footers. Tip grabs a ton. Too much for a 9 with tight pockets.

This is why this is an impossible question. I'm like you. I find a tip I really like then try out a new one the next time anyway, just to see. I've gone through Kamui, Ki-Tech, and currently Ultraskin. All excellent tips.

Only because it's a different shaft. It's already a stiff hitting cue, and I feel like I'd rather have a Le Pro on it than a Triangle, but I've wasted too much time installing Le Pros and then chopping them off because they're garbage. I do it all by hand so it takes time, and I just don't want to waste anymore trying to find the handful of decent Le Pros in the box. Anyhow, I'm hoping the medium will be just a tad softer so I can get this backup cue feeling about the same as my main players.

But it's funny because I absolutely HATED Kamui tips, and so many people really seem to love them. Yeah, it's a very personal thing. :)

I wore out a Triangle and am trying out a thick water buffalo tip. I need to shape it a bit more, but it draws well. I can't go more than about a tip and a half on the cue ball without miscuing. It's less forgiving at this point.

Moori, G2 or LePro. That is from some f the most informed people. Depending on the cue, I have mostly Moori, but lately have requested G2 despite still having 4 Moori.

This is most likely gonna depend heavily on the preference of the individual.

I tried many tips and ended up discovering that I much preferred a softer tip. I now play with a Kamui Black Super Soft and I'm loving it. I really liked the Moori Soft too, which I thought played very similar to the Kamui Black Super Soft.

Experiment with a few tips and see for yourself. It is very hard if not impossible to say "this tip is the best in the overall scheme of things."

I know we compete for chalk sales, but since I don't sell tips, I can be perfectly honest.

The Ki-Tech tips that my friend has were terrific. I always wanted to try one, but never did. I wish I did not just re-tip my cues, or I would have ordered 3 tips from RENFRO.

Terrific tip, great feel, I liked it a lot.

I love Ultraskin and G2, but like everyone else says it's all personal preference. The "try a medium layered tip and go from there" approach someone mentioned makes a lot of sense.
