You need to check out Pechauer. Joe has this new type of SS piloted joint that makes the hit pretty darn amazing. I have a prototype of his and that thing plays great! Its actually a bit stiffer than my Barnhart, and easier to draw with. However, it is a little too front-weighted (so I tend to hit too hard with it) for my liking so I don't use it as my main player.
Too front-weighted ??? Geez, sounds like a problem I'd like to have! So, what's the model number on this thing ???

No model. I've looked through all the Pechauer catalogs, never seen one like mine. I emailed them and they said Joe made this one as a prototype.
I don't think it matters though, all of the newer Pechauers out there have the SS pilot like mine does, and if you have a dealer nearby you can go test hit them. If I remember correctly, Pechauer also has a lifetime warranty like McDermott.

Very true...which is what makes these kinds of "polls" subjective, at best. Take 10 different people, and have them play with the exact same cue...same shaft, same tip, same joint. 3 of them will LOVE it; 3 of them will HATE it; 3 of them will say they could take it or leave it...and 1 will choose not to participate, because they know that how a cue "hits" is meaningless, except to the individual!

BTW, Pechauer is very recognizable (and, as such, should be included in the poll), being that they are the main sponsor for several tours around the country.

What feels good is a very subjective thing. People both love & hate Meucci cues (for example) for the very same reasons. This is just my taste.

I hear ya Scott....I've had buddies come up to me telling me I HAD to try this or that cue (claiming it's the best hitting thing EVER), and I have only once came away thinking...yep, best I've hit too. That one, since it might make some curious after my statement, was a Diveney with a G10 pin. I'd love to hear folks' comment after trying one of those, but since this is a production thread....I'll stick by my Jacoby, and while they do make custom cues, and their production is pretty low per year vs. some others, they do have standard lines of cues. Another good thing about them is the various choices in joints and pins (meaning they can cover a very large spectrum of tastes in hit)!!!! Unlike some, where if someone tells you they play a -fill in the blank- you know that 99% of the time it means it has 5/16-14, or 3/8-10, etc.; Jacoby could have those two, or radial, etc....:thumbup2:

Schon is truely a production cue...

Ken

They crank Schons out on a production line? Mass produce? the Schon websiote make it sound like they are only a few people (5) and they turn out cues rather slowly...

Schon Custom Cues came into existence in 1981 and we have been at our Burnham St. location since 1986. We have a miniscule output , sometimes going 2 weeks without actually finishing any cues. I frequently hear the all knowing term “production cue” applied to our cues with an implied sneer. The fact is that we are one of the oldest custom cuemakers in the world with a total staff today of 5 people. I personally design, finish and test every cue myself. Everyone here is a full time craftsman, not telemarketers or corporate hypsters. The only thing we do is make cues...Evan Clarke 1-11-05

Based on the baove statements I didnt mentally put Schon into the mix with Lucasi, Players, Rage, Muecci, Etc... But I guess based on the strict definition of "production" cues... they are. Albeit, high end production cues.
