Hey folks, holiday time has rolled around again and like many I'm hounded for gift ideas and after reading a couple threads floating around here I found myself wondering what people thought were the best books on pool be they instructional or stories.

Instructional
Beginners to Advanced Bob Byrnes books are hard to beat.
Capelle, Koehler, Henning
Biographies and fun reading
Rags To Rifleman , Cornbread Reds Story by Henning, The Bank Shot and Other robberies by Fats
Billiard Encyclopedia by Stein and Rubino
Willies Game
Mc Goorty
The Billiard Encyclopedia is a couple hundred usually or more
Rags to Rifleman about 100 up the rest are under 30 dollars or less.

Best Pool Books

Am I the only person who thought Playing Off The Rail had about as much to do with being on the road as doing a wilderness adventure and camping in your own back yard?

I can see that

Funny but when i ask Tony to sign the title page he wrote exactly this:

"Keep on hitting them and dont believe everything you read.. Its was a lot worse." Best Wishes underneath with his signature.

Swear on my life

Overall i thought Playing off the Rail was pretty good. If it wasnt for Kiether and Cole Dickson to add some color it probably wouldnt of been as good... :boring:

Jay Helford's, Pool Wars is a great read. I also enjoyed Running The Table.

Of course, my personal favorite., is my own creation, a fiction novel, titled, Right on Cue.

I like any of the Monk's book too. It's not directly about pool but the Inner game of tenis is a good one to have. Banking with the beard was good. "The Pool Room" if you can find a copy, written by Sid Ragland was a good read. I've heard of another but never read it. Anyone ever read "the pleasure of small motions"? I've been told it's kinda like inner game of tenis.

Get a copy of Willie's Game. Not sure if it will ever be reprinted. And maybe a copy of The Hustler from 1959 not the reprint....

Danny Di Liberto's book was really good and he could use the money because he is ill. You can still order a signed copy. There is a thread here about Danny and contact info..
