poolstars has a decent engine...but I don't think there will be a pool game that will entice me (I'm a pretty avid gamer). I would give their physics an 8, the graphics a 6 or 7. It's free so that always helps.
Virtual Pool 3 ( and previous versions) are THE BEST HANDS DOWN!!! I don't know why they haven't continued developing the line because the game play, physics, graphics, and controls are fantastic. Without a doubt the best out there. You could(can) even play against other folks over the internet. Virtual Pool Hall ( an earlier version) was also very good from the same folks. I think Celeris is the developer but I'm not sure who distributes it now. It's been a while since they've updates it, but even in it current version it spanks every other "pool game" that I've ran across....
I agree completely, the graphics and physics are awesome, along with all the different game modes like 9 ball, straight pool and one pocket and many more, even snooker. And the online play makes it that much better.
I disagree... "Bankshot Billiards" on the xbox 360 is good for multiplayer but that's the extent of decent multiplayer pool games. I guess I set a higher standard for video games but the virtual pool games were NOT as great for me. Any game that has glitches in the rails as well as poor audio isn't a game I care to invest money in.
Oh my God that game sucks!! You don't make anything on the break and you get to keep shooting! there are several other problems with that game but I'm not getting into all that all I'll say is that it's the only pool game of any kind that puts me off pool

VP 3 is awesome! I used to spend so much time playing that game! I had to put it down on the weekdays so I could wake up and go to work the next day. I would play that game when I got off work and all of the sudden it was 3 o'clock in the morning!! Thats way past my bedtime!

3d Ultra Cool Pool.
As far as graphics and realism I'd agrre that Virtual Pool is the best.
The most fun I've had though is playing pool on the Nintendo Wii, the graphics aren't as good as other games and it's a little hard to aim but it's Wii!!! It's fun to actuall stroke the "cue" to play.

I concur with that statement!
Another vote for virtual pool 3. I had a bunch of cool trickshot files saved on my computer that you could load up and watch... wacky stuff like making 15 'randomly' scattered balls with 1 hard stroke. Sadly they're gone now but if you get this game you can make some new ones. The physics on it are fantastic.
