Best price on Sniper tips ???

Since you are a cuemaker...contact Tony at Tiger products and buy wholesale straight from him. He will sell you one box at wholesale. I won't post price on the forum...but its cheap as possible. Best tip in the world IMHO! Be sure to cover installation with him...do NOT try trimming the sides with your tool post cutter on the lathe.

We don't necessarily have the best prices. Many of our higher volume buyers can beat our manufacturer direct prices.

Since we must protect our dealers & distributors, we can't flex on pricing, where they can.

I recommend contacting one of our US Distributors for the best deal.

What problems arise when you trim the sides with a tool post cutter Varney?

Tip delamination and ferrule damage come to my mind.

I'm asking because I've never experienced either. Cutting at high speeds and not being careful could cause such a problems, but that is not exclusive to Sniper tips.

I think the sharpness of the tool is the key to cutting laminated tips cleanly on a lathe.
High Speed Steel seems to take a sharper edge than carbide and cuts cleanly.
The shape of the cutting edge is importaint also.
I have had very little problems triming laminated tips on the lathe but I finish up by sanding the sides to final shape.
I shape the dome with a razor blade.

Thanks for the info about Tony at Tiger Products ... I will send him an email.
Sniper tips seem to be gaining in popularity around here and it looks like it is time for me to stock some of them.

Willee,

Have you put on many Sniper Tips? Just curious, because no matter what type of cutter I use it does not work...You need to follow Tony's instructions for this tip. Every other layered tip I put on, I have not issues. Also try the Wizard tip from J and J...They are great. Nice visit on Monday, thanks for all the insights in the CueMaking world

I just use titanium coated blade from Home Depot, Sheldon Lebow style. But with Loctite 454 as I've had nothing but problems with Loctite Super Glue Gel.
It works for me. No need for wet sponge either.
Thnx again Sheldon. Makes doing Elk Master on house cues a cake too.

Thanks all for the info.
I bought a box of 12 from Robin Adair.
He thinks they are a dern good tip and a lot of locals like them.
I will put one on my cue ... hey ... I need all the help I can get.

I put one on Corey Deuel's cue once at the Glass City Open...I shredded it to oblivion...:p I used a razor blade on the sides the second time...
