Brandon Shuff played with that 1st gen for years. In the process making a few$$.;) To answer your question, you already have the best pred.. Nowadays people are going OB, Mezz and Tiger route.

thank you for the response and what would you suggest as the best playing shaft

If you like like great feel and feedback then Mezz or tiger. If you'r in a quest for absolute zero deflection then I cant say as I find that undesirable.

Have played Lucasi, McDermott and Predator shafts....all pretty good. For my money, you can't do better than Jacoby Hybrid Edge......sweet and pure..consistent. I use a Kamui Black soft tip...........great feel..life is good. I bought Jacoby Edge shafts for all of my high-end cues:smile:

Very personal decision. I haven't played any length of time with first gen Predator equipment, but some people swear by it. I know the second gen improved deflection but that may not be a big thing for someone at the expense of hit, feel, etc.

I've used Z2, 314-2, and now Mezz WD700. Liked the Z2 a lot, very little deflection, but found I was abusing the spin a bit with it because I was so comfortable with it. The 314-2 once I got used to the thicker and heavier feel was nice, felt more solid, but the difference in deflection took a while to get used to. Using the Mezz now for the last 2 weeks, very similar to 314-2 but so far I like the more solid and stiffer feel, time will tell...

314-2 or tiger X...there's a reason why most pros use them. LD is the best way to go these days.

ive tried the 314, 314-2, mezz wd700 and now I am using the TIGER ultraX LD shaft and i love it. very solid.

Your best answer would probably be found by using the search function. You see, these kind of questions are posted so frequently, that any member that has been here for any length of time has already answered hundreds of them. After that many times answering the same question, they tend not to bother anymore. Your search of past results will answer your question better. Hope this helps.

Love my OB-2
I have played with most every LD shaft on the market.

I actually voided my warranty recently by taking off the carbon fiber disk and shortening the ferrule even more. I have almost no discernible deflection whatsoever. Tip end mass is nil.

You should check out the D III by William Dominiak; Dominiak Custom Cues.
Tell him I referred you.

Just make sure you put another carbon fiber pad back on it after you shorten the ferrule.

No snobbery here.

I wasn't trying to be snobby. Fact is you'll get a lot more answers by using the search function.

I played with a 314 for a while, then the 314-2. Overall excellent...very low deflection, but a hollow dull feel. I went to the OB Classic and couldn't be happier. Almost the same deflection characteristics, but a more solid feel...much closer to a traditional maple shaft. The quality is very good, the customer service is excellent, Royce is a great guy, made in the USA...lots of pluses!
